🍷🍇 September W**e of the Month 🍇🍷
Weingut Meyer-Näkel's 2023 Dernauer Hardtberg Spätburgunder Premier Cru dry red w**e. This Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) has a full bodied elegance and cool minerality. It's unique profile is reflective of the Ahr region's terroir, with a fresh acidity and certain saltiness.
The sustainably managed Dernauer Hardtberg vineyard is characterised by steep, south facing slopes. Rising to 250 metres above sea level, the name "Hardt" refers to a hilltop or ridge. The site, in the Dernau valley basin, has heat retaining slate-rich soil that creates an almost Mediterranean microclimate. This means that the narrow valley heats up quickly, providing an ideal habitat for the vines to flourish.
This fifth-generation family w**ery is run by sisters Meike and Dörte Näkel (pictured), and is a member of the VDP.Die Prädikatsweingüter - an association of the country's most prestigious w**e producers.

🍷🥂🍾 The CollectEve - a female-founded collective of w**e importers (including The W**eBarn - invite you to their next trade tasting at The Studio Wild by Tart in London on Monday 14th September, 10am - 4pm.
This event is a product of many years of work, collaboration, enthusiasm and vision in the making. The CollectEve tasting will showcase w**es from five specialist importers, and feature the dynamic and diverse work they do with producers from South America, France, Germany, Italy and Canada. Expect over 100 exciting w**es on show, all with a strong focus on sustainability, considered farming and the true expression of terroir.
This year's CollectEve are; Okanagan Roots, The W**eBarn, Special Cases Ltd, Vin de.Vie and Vinos Latinos.

Iris visited Christina Reinecker at the Sektgut Reinecker w**ery, located in the historic w**e village of Auggen within the sun-drenched Markgräflerland region of Baden, Germany recently. Founded in 1987, this highly-acclaimed estate focuses on elegant sparkling w**es (Sekt and Crémant). Reinecker w**ery uses the traditional Ch*****ne method (méthode Champenoise traditionelle) to produce all of their premium quality fizz. Christina, and her husband Herbert, though still involved in the family w**ery, have taken a back seat as their son Steffen now oversees the vineyards and w**emaking, and daughter Katja leads marketing and sales. Together, they are shaping the future while honouring generations of tradition.
✨ 2025 marked a defining moment as the estate was welcomed into the prestigious VDP.Die Prädikatsweingüter - one of Germany's highest recognitions for exceptional w**e estates.
