Another Albion show success was recently at the Royal Three Counties Show where Susannah and Keith Mannerings took a ‘busmen’s holiday’ break with three Albions to take part in the dual-purpose section.
The show was friendly and welcoming and Albions were talked about in each Grand Parade with many visitors coming to visit the stalls.

It was a first time showing for all 3 Albions:
The judge simply loved Speckles Silver Boy (Oct 25) and made him Any Other Breed Supreme Champion. Silver Boy looked visibly happy the whole time and showed himself off very well, apparently he has ‘a leg in each corner’!

Speckles Joyful Darling (ET) was Reserve Breed Champion and Female Champion. She also enjoyed the show and held her head up high and pricked her ears which really helped.
Speckles Darling Bell (ET) was Junior Female Breed Champion and, although she is the friendliest at home, she messed about in the ring and did not show a good walk, however, on the Sunday a new judge liked her best of all.

So three beautiful Albions and a lovely adventure.

Albions were both on display and competing at the recent Royal Cheshire County Show.

A cow and calf, kindly provided by John Ball and Lynn Parks, were happy in a pen in the British Breeds Revival Trust marquee.

Not only this but their granddaughter, Evie Watson, was showing a white Albion heifer calf. Many rosettes were won with the highlight being winning the open restricted rare breed class with a third in the overall Rare Breed Championship.

This was the first time Evie had shown and also the first time (in recent times) that a white Albion has been shown.

Well done indeed!

Some busy members have been out showing. First out was Lottie, yes, this is the heifer in the ‘win a heifer’ raffle last year.

The Flemings were busy halter training her in the winter and her first show was Hadleigh. Although this show was a bit ‘mind blowing’ for her, she won a 4th rosette.

This was followed by the Suffolk show where she was Rare Breed champion and won a cup! The family also showed their Suffolk Punches with another champion.

A massive achievement as they must have been rushed off their feet! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

📣 RBST Native Cattle Health & Wealth Survey ⚠️

Native cattle breeds play a vital role in sustainable farming, biodiversity, and local food systems. Understanding their health and welfare needs is essential to support good management, inform future research, and ensure these breeds continue to thrive.

We appreciate that both breed and environment can significantly impact health and welfare and want to gain a more detailed understanding of this area.

This survey aims to gather information from keepers and breeders of native cattle about health, welfare, and management practices. Your responses will help build a clearer picture of current challenges and strengths across native breeds.

Participation is entirely voluntary. You may choose not to answer any question and may stop the survey at any time without providing a reason. All responses will be treated as confidential. No individual, holding, or herd will be identifiable in any published results. Data will be used solely for research, education, and informing best practice related to native cattle health and welfare.

This survey is part of the RBST Native Cattle Project:
