Come and join us on the 17th and 18th April for our first farm suppers of the year, celebrating lots of delicious ingredients grown here at the farm and by some of our favourite local suppliers, cooked mostly over the fire and served on sharing plates down the long tables. A 3 year story. This pig started its journey at Mello view a year ago, and has spent that time grazing in our fields. this leg of pork is on the next chapter of its story, it’s going in to fine sea salt for 25 days with 3 other legs. They will then have the slat washed off and will be hung up to dry and age for 2 years. These ones will be ready for Christmas 2027. Very very slow food, but it will be worth the wait.

This wreath is now five years in the making, with each year building upon the last. Made from willow from our garden and decorated with fresh and dried plants and flowers from the garden and hedgerows, it is one of my favourite Christmas tradition. Taking down the wreath from a nail on the potting shed wall each winter and having a look at what I added and the plants I used the previous year is a lovely reminder of how our garden and what we grown is always evolving. This years is my favourite so far. Vicky likes it as well.

Our final farm suppers of the year will be on the 5th and 6th December. As our busy catering season starts to slow down I get to spend more time in the work shop, making fun things for the farm. I spent this morning making a lovely little oak kitchen maid. I wanted to not use any glue or nails so it’s all just held together with wooden pegs, took about double the time than if I had just screwed it together, but would not have been any way as much fun to build or I think look as good. Just waiting on the pulleys to be delivered and then I am going to put it above the wood burner in the cabin for guests to warm and dry things on.

Something a little different coming up on the 6th September, we are going to host one long table feast dinner down on our field, we will be serving an Argentine inspired meal with produce from the farm cooked over large fires. This will be for one night only with a maximum of 50 guests. Tickets are £45 per person, it’s BYOB, DM for reservations.

Just finished refurbishing our barn bbq, this is where most of our event cooking happens, I built it out of oak sleepers and filled the inside with rubble and sand. There are lots of styles of bbq out there but for me this is my favourite. The grills come from a local business the fact it overlooks the kitchen garden just makes it that much better.
