Animal water is checked daily, especially in this warm weather. But deep cleans, fixing leaks and keeping troughs in good order are always on the to-do list — keeping fresh, clean water flowing for everyone on the farm is an important part of our day.

Shearing day for some of the ewe lambs today. An important job for flock health and welfare, helping keep them comfortable and in good condition. It is always impressive to watch the skill and talent involved — proper shearing is no easy task.

The last of the 2026 calving season has arrived on the farm 🐮 We’ve welcomed 6 new calves — 2 girls and 4 boys. It’s always a busy time of year, but there’s nothing better than seeing healthy calves up on their feet and thriving. Now to watch them grow over the months ahead.

Bad news on the farm — we’ve come down with TB. Two of our heifers have tested positive. One was due to see the bull next year and would have produced some lovely calves for us. Unfortunately, because they tested positive, both were collected and culled. A really tough loss for the farm and hard to see them go. We’ll now be under TB restrictions and testing every 60 days until we achieve two clear herd tests. Hoping for better news next time.

We regularly gather our ewe lambs and weight them to keep track of their weight and ensure they are growing well. It’s also a good time to check the sheep over and ensure they are happy and healthy.
