The rams have met their ladies 😍

This year we are tupping in two groups, one has 5 tups in with them and the other has 4.

We’re looking forward to seeing how they get on in the coming weeks!

This year instead of planting just one wheat variety, we’re mixing several together!🌾

Each type of wheat has different strengths — some cope better with pests, others with disease — so by growing them together, we’re hoping for a stronger, healthier crop for Harvest ’26.

We’ve also added linseed as a companion crop, which should help with soil health and biodiversity.

There’s a bumper crop of sloe berries and tree nuts this year – perfect for homemade gin or other countryside creations. Keep an eye out for them on your walks! 🌿

Sheep can be easily worried by dogs, even if they don’t make contact. Stress from being chased can cause serious injury, loss of lambs, and lasting harm to the flock.

By keeping dogs on a lead in fields with sheep, you’re protecting the animals, supporting farmers, and making the countryside safer for everyone. 🐕✅

🐑📏 Weigh Day! 📏🐑

Earlier this week we weighed the lambs – a simple but vital job on the farm. Regular checks help us track growth, spot any that need extra care, and make sure they’re on target.

By monitoring weight gain over time, we can adjust feed or grazing to keep them healthy and know exactly when they’re ready for market.

Anyone would think they were ready to move… and who wouldn’t onto fresh grass?🌱

During the drought our sheep had been eating some flower mixes due to the lack of grass, but all the rain we’ve had recently has finally got the grass growing again!

This week we had the seed cleaners Evans and Pearce in and despite how it sounds they didn’t put them in soapy water to wash them - instead they sieve out the chaff and small grains so we are only planting the biggest juiciest wheat seeds hoping they provide the same at harvest next year. 🌾

The screenings that are removed are shown in the photo and are used to feed our pigs.

Hopefully we will be planting the clean seed in the next couple of weeks 🤞

Bringing a little sunshine to your feed today 🌻

Our shepherd, Ash, snapped this lovely photo while out on the rounds the other morning. Sunflowers have been springing up all along our flower margins, creating a cheerful splash of colour — and, even better, providing food for wildlife and pollinators 🐝🐦‍⬛
