🦅 The Ripley Raptors were on display today 🦅

Our very own aerial display team put on a great show over the Farm Shop this afternoon. They swooped, crossed and turned overhead in near-perfect formation.

Word from the crew room is that this year's yearlings are almost fully trained, so the team should be flying in pairs for next season. Look up on your next visit and you might catch a show of your own.

No tickets needed, and the Farm Shop stays open during the display. 😉

Purple and Orange Cauliflowers Are Back

They're back by popular demand. Our colourful cauliflowers are in store at Ripley Nurseries and Farm Shop and look brilliant on the plate.

The orange variety is naturally rich in beta-carotene, and the purple gets its colour from anthocyanins, the same goodness found in blueberries. They taste like regular cauliflower, just a little sweeter and milder. Only £2.31 each

Serving ideas:
Roast in florets with olive oil and garlic to keep the colour
Make a rainbow cauliflower cheese with all three colours
Serve raw with dips for a striking platter

Top tip: a squeeze of lemon or a dash of vinegar in the cooking water helps the purple keep its colour.

Pop in while stocks last. Family run since 1895.

New Season Premium Chestnuts Have Arrived

Plump, glossy and full of flavour, this season's premium chestnuts are now in store at Ripley Nurseries and Farm Shop.

Perfect for roasting by the fire, adding to stuffing, or tossing with sprouts and bacon. Nothing says autumn quite like the smell of freshly roasted chestnuts.

Just £4.00 per lb

Top tip: score a cross in the shell, roast at 200°C for 20–25 minutes, then wrap them in a tea towel for 5 minutes before peeling. They come away easily while still warm.

Pop in and pick yours while stocks last. Family run since 1895.

🌸 New Double Oriental Lily 'Cut Flower' — a stunning, pollen-free choice for the vase 🌸

These beautiful new double Oriental lilies have been bred especially for their elegant, long stems and magnificent multi-petalled flowers.

Unlike traditional lilies, their double blooms are pollen-free — so there are no orange pollen marks to stain clothes, furniture or tablecloths. The extra petals create a luxurious, rose-like display, making them a wonderful choice for cutting and bringing indoors.

Perfect for creating a dramatic vase arrangement, these elegant lilies produce a real statement in the home and make a lovely gift too. Double Oriental lilies are known for their long-lasting blooms, strong stems and gentle fragrance.

Available now at Ripley Nurseries and Farm Shop — 4 long multi-head stems £14.99 per wrap.

🌿 Proof of what a long, warm summer we have enjoyed! 🌿

We have spotted something rather unusual on one of our Trachelospermum jasminoides — commonly known as Star Jasmine. It has set seed pods, something we have previously only seen in Italy!

This beautiful evergreen climber is one of our firm favourites, with glossy, oval dark-green leaves and masses of wonderfully jasmine-scented white flowers throughout the summer. In winter, the foliage can take on attractive bronze and red tones, giving interest all year round.

Seed pods are rarely produced in UK gardens because Star Jasmine generally needs a long, warm summer to ripen them — so this is a lovely little reminder of this year’s exceptional growing season.

Trachelospermum jasminoides is a superb choice for a sheltered wall, fence, arch, pergola or large container, and we have it in stock all year round at Ripley Nurseries and Farm Shop.
