Wishing James, our herd manager here at Doddington, a very Happy Birthday 🥳 James is truly a cow enthusiast and the herd has improved considerably while he’s been here. The cows are more productive, but also healthier & happier thanks to the great team James leads!

It’s national cheese day, and what better way to spend it than explaining to 1700 children at Glendale Show - Glendale Agricultural Society “Countryside Day” where real cheese comes from & how we make it on the farm from our own cow’s milk! Children from all around the County are brought to Wooler to experience lots of different aspects of the countryside - and to find out where their food comes from!

It's Graceful! Darling Blue is a wonderfully mellow buttery blue cheese with notes of a savoury saltiness reminiscent of Grace's home by the sea.

Named after the world famous heroine from the Farne Islands, Doddington Dairy’s Darling Blue is made from our pasteurised cow’s milk and traditional rennet.

It has a natural rind and comes in 1.8kg – 2.2kg wheel truckles and is aged for round 2 months.

The Northumberland county Young Farmers dairy stockjudging competition was held at Doddington this morning. Three classes of four cows were judged by representatives of young farmers clubs from around the county, who have to observe the cows, then decide which animals are likely to be the best cows and explain their reasons as to why they have placed them in a certain order. A good opportunity to demonstrate stockmanship, but also practice public speaking. Well done to all of those who were brave enough to have a go! Also a big thank you to those who gave up their time to be the judges & stewards which allowed the competition to take part, along with the Doddington team who worked hard to make it happen.

Admiral Collingwood is a cheese of great distinction befitting Nelson’s right hand man at Trafalgar.

This semi soft raw milk cheese rind is washed in Newcastle Brown Ale. This confers extra flavours as it’s characteristically pink rind develops. On tasting it’s buttery savoury undertones give way to an effusively complex aftertaste. Collingwood is made using traditional rennet, comes in a minimum of 1 kg square truckles and is aged for up to 10 months.
