Couldn't get into it today at all, so I pulled a few veg up instead. I saw a bee loving life in probably the least impressive Sunflower in Llandegla - a bird must have dropped the seed there.

I got my C***r mills drive motor back today, new bearings new laquer on the windings and roughly half the price it was as a new motor 2 years ago. I suppose a new motor would be £1000 these days? Anyway I'll stick it all together again tomorrow with a bit of luck.
Now you may remember my sheer delight and proud moment a few days ago when I showed my first turnip?
I was forced to eat the bu**er tonight. It was surprisingly OK aided with a drop of Bart but I am glad I haven't got to get through a field full of them.

I'm a bit like that Great Dane King Canute. He sat on a throne on the beach ordering the tide not to come in. I guess he had to paddle back to dry land. I don't want to accept apples will be ready earlier because I won't be, but I'm having to compromise and gathered up a few apples off a Wilding tree so I can find my press. Its in there somewhere. This tree has grown from a pip right outside the barn over the past 20 years. I'm not starting to press yet but there's a trug full of fruit to start on.

I had to abandon ship today, the Redbacks that have performed so well in the dry Summer have identified as soggy bottoms today. That and the rain got me thinking of things aquatic and indeed to a former opponent, Napolean (June 1815) and why he always seemed to have one hand inside his coat?

Very quiet day in the shop today in fairness I wasn't my best anyway.

At 8am when we pulled into our trader space @ the Merioneth Show Dolgellau this morning, the rain hitting the roof of the van was brutal.
But it quickly slowed down enough to put my stalls frame up without getting soaked.
We had a wander and I sat in a rather wonderful Kubota digger at Major Owens.
By 10ish it turned into - and remained a lovely day!
Sorry if you took my advice and arrived in coats wellies and the like, I should have said factor 20, sun hats and shades. We got a good few military flypasts, being right on the edge of the Mach Loop.
My card reader was useless on Wifi but the lads at the bacon bap centre got it running on mobile for me - between that and my phone we managed most card payments eventually. That whole contactless thing kills trade, but that's the way it is these days. The switched on people have their own Starlink hub with them but I don't do many shows.
The van stopped for a pint on the way home and we had a Magnum at Thomas Motor Mart.
Back at base the sky changed and it rained within minutes of the last shot.

And finally...
My last Agricultural County Show for 2026 is almost upon us.
As you'd expect the forecast is for Monsoon and biblical floods, but unless you are busy constructing an Ark and rounding up pairs of animals why not come over and enjoy a great day out in the Country? I've marked the spot with an X and we won't be in the worst, but you can take 5 minutes under my roof Tomorrow if you buy a pint. PS Generally the forecasts over promise and under deliver, but bring a coat in case.

A bit of a whizz bang day half on the road half in the yard today. A delivery up to the Rhug then Wrexham to do stuff, then the c***r apple mills motor went in for appraisal at Wrexham electrical repairs (the 6th motor its had so far in 20years). Back home quick to fill for the Three Pigeons in Graigfechan where I saw my old school chum Mark, 2 minutes late for supper then off up to the Refreshment Rooms Rock Park and on up to the Black Toad Hoylake. I got a small bag of peanuts there for the trip home.
Oh, I also found a young Ladies earing by the gate too if you know who lost it, its ear.
