Fionas Farmhouse Kitchen

Fionas Farmhouse Kitchen My story began in a derelict farmhouse we restored while living in a caravan. We built a smallholding, raised our children, opened a caravan site & baking shed.

Since moving we are now surrounded by sheep, hills & stunning waterfalls in the Dales .

🍂❤️ HELLO SEPTEMBER… NEW MONTH, NEW GOALS! ❤️🍂

As some of you know, I’ve always been a bit of a busy bee! 🐝😂

For 30 years I worked as a children’s nurse, a job that was a huge part of my life and taught me so much about people, hard work and caring for others. ❤️

Alongside that, life was rarely quiet! We ran our little smallholding, I chased sheep, goats and pigs around fields 🐑🐐🐷, built what felt like miles and miles of fencing, renovated our farmhouse, set up and ran a caravan site, and somehow I still found myself baking until midnight for The Little Baking Shed! 🧁😂

All of this while fitting life around my gorgeous family. ❤️

So I suppose when I look back, I’ve always liked being busy & having a project .

Life looks a little different these days, in a good way of course… but I’m certainly not ready to sit still! 😂

This new chapter is about having more time with my family, enjoying life, wild swimming, getting fitter and stronger, being outdoors and generally saying yes to things that perhaps I wouldn’t have done before. ❤️🏊‍♀️🥾💪

And somewhere along the way, Tropic has become my latest adventure too. 🌿💚

One I started without really knowing where it would lead… and one that I’m actually enjoying far more than I ever expected!

And yesterday I surprised myself again…

I achieved my Tropic Leap Ahead Level 4 and earned myself a £50 bonus! 🎉💚

Now, I know £50 isn’t going to change my life 😂 but that’s really not the point.

There are little incentives and challenges like this throughout the Tropic journey and, as it turns out, I quite like a challenge! 😂

So for September, I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing. Keep challenging myself, keep enjoying it and see where it takes me. 💚

And if I can build a little community of lovely women along the way — women who support one another, celebrate each other’s wins and perhaps want something new for themselves too — then even better 🥰

Sometimes the things you never planned on doing turn out to be the things you rather enjoy. 🥂💚

🚴‍♀️⛰️ TRIALLING E-BIKES TODAY!

Today’s adventure was a cycle out trialling e-bikes… and I have to say, with hills like these, that little bit of electric assistance was very welcome! 😂🚴‍♀️

You still have to pedal and the legs are definitely still working, but it gives you that helping hand when the hills start getting a little ridiculous! ⛰️😂

Such a lovely way to get out, explore, get some exercise and enjoy the amazing scenery along the way. 🥰

I could definitely get used to this kind of cycling! 🚴‍♀️💨

☕ Such a lovely day out at Oxenhope! ❤️

We enjoyed a gorgeous trip on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, followed by a delicious afternoon tea. 🍰🫖

But as always, it’s the company that makes the day — lovely to spend it with Ann-Louise, Sheila and Aunty Margaret. 🥰

Beautiful scenery, a little step back in time on the steam railway, plenty of treats and lots of chatting 🥰. Just a really lovely day making memories together. ❤️🚂

✨ What a beautiful day spent with the lovely Jo from , all the way over from New Zealand! 🇳🇿❤️

Jo and I originally met in France, quite by chance, while rummaging around a gorgeous little brocante barn owned by Tracey 🇫🇷. Who knew a shared love of old treasures would lead to a friendship across the other side of the world! 🥰

Today we carried on where we left off, spending the day wandering around some gorgeous vintage and antique shops here in Yorkshire. 🪞🖼️✨

First stop was Northallerton, where we popped into .interiors and caught up with the lovely Louise again — always such a treasure trove and never easy to leave empty-handed! 😂

Then it was on to beautiful Middleham and Emporium, where we met Sara for the first time and, of course, had another good rummage!

Lots of chatting, laughing, vintage treasures and inspiration — pretty much my perfect kind of day. ❤️

We finally made our way to beautiful Reeth & had a very late lunch at one of my favourite spots where I had my usual, the amazing ‘ Chestnut Stuffing, Spinach, Mushroom & Cranberry Ciabatta’ with Jo, Tracy & Susan my lovely swimming buddies 🥰

From meeting in a little brocante in France 🇫🇷 to a vintage & food -shopping day in Yorkshire 🇬🇧… with New Zealand thrown into the mix 🇳🇿. How lovely is that?

🇪🇸 From Sitges to Reeth! ❤️

Lovely to meet Gregory & David from Sitges in Spain — a beautiful coastal town just south of Barcelona, with gorgeous beaches and a lovely old town. We’ve actually visited once before but missed them , so it was really nice to chat about somewhere we already knew. 🇪🇸☀️

We enjoyed a lovely meal together at The Kings Arms in Reeth and, as always, the food was absolutely amazing! 😋

Good food, great company and meeting new people… a really lovely evening here in the Dales. ❤️

And what a lovely evening it turned out to be! ❤️

Good food, a refreshing dip, beautiful surroundings and, best of all, amazing company.🥰

Definitely a pretty good substitute for Zumba! 😂💦

🇫🇷 Only us… 😂🔥

Last day of our holiday in France and what do we decide to do? Treat the attic for woodworm! 🤦‍♀️😂

It was treated by the vendors specialist when we bought the house, but we decided on a bit of belt and braces and ( no signs of anything actively thankfully)gave it another treatment just in case.

Perfectly sensible… except we chose to do it when it was 42°C outside. 🥵🔥 You can imagine the temperature up in that attic!

Thankfully, once the job was done, we did what any sensible person would do and headed straight to the river for a very well-earned cool off! 💦😂

Woodworm treatment followed by a river dip… just your average last day of a French holiday! 🇫🇷🏡❤️

Perfectly sensible… except we chose to do it when it was 42°C outside, all suited & booted 🥵🔥 You can imagine the temperature up in that attic!
