Save the date for our annual October Craft fair! 10th & 11th October

We can’t believe where this year has gone but it’s not long until our October craft fair again. The stalls & music are all booked, we’ll be doing the food again (hog roast & bacon butties) & of course the farm shop will be open as normal.
We have just had a cancellation for the coffee van so if there are any local coffee vans that would like to come to the event please get in touch & ask for Jenny. Thank you! Let’s hope we have beautiful sunshine like we did last year.

Made plenty Boerewors ready for Jen’s Zim friends today!
I’ve perfected this recipe over the last 10 or so years! Certainly worth a try,
Best cooked over a fire, a very traditional recipe with coriander seed, and all spice, coursely ground beef with a little lamb fat to help the juiciness! Beware this is very meaty sausage. No added nasties either! So we sell them out the freezer!

All stocked up and ready for a busy weekend!

Looking forward to the great Yorkshire show tomorrow, where our very own Jen, my wonderful wife!
will be on stage talking about her experiences growing up and farming as a female on a large commercial to***co, coffee, citrus and game farm and also growing proteas, (flowers) in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 and also what she’s been up to in England with me and how it differs, tickets are sold out, but you can always catch her in the shop,
It’s a very interesting topic to hear about, just like to wish her all the best xx. 😘

2026 is the International Year of the Woman Farmer and our Women in Farming Network are looking forward to celebrating this with 2 unique speakers bringing their international perspective to the Summer Social at the Great Yorkshire Show.

Jenny Hutchinson grew up on a large family farm in Zimbabwe before moving to the UK. She and her husband now run the award winning Hutchinson Hobbs farm shop in North Yorkshire 🇿🇼🇬🇧

Emma Lawson farms at home in County Durham. She spent 18 months on a large scale cattle and arable operation in Canada so brings a fresh hands-on perspective across different systems and environments 🇨🇦🇬🇧

Chairing the conversation, we're joined by Kate Bush, Trading Director for Specialist Lines at Geo who are kindly sponsoring the Summer Social. Kate has extensive experience in agriculture and farming through her own career and family life, and we're looking forward to hearing what she draws out in conversation with our speakers.

The event takes place on Thursday 16 July in the Agri-Innovation Village, from 3pm until 5pm. Strawberries & cream with a glass of fizz will be served 🥂🍓 Please register for your free place using this link: https://bit.ly/4oMwYnp

🌱 Why does sustainability in British farming matter?

Choosing to shop at your local farm shop or farmers market doesn’t just support local businesses – it also helps support a more sustainable food system.

Many British farmers are working hard to:
🚜 Care for the land for future generations
🐝 Protect wildlife and encourage biodiversity
💧 Use natural resources responsibly
🍎 Reduce food miles by selling directly to local communities
♻️ Minimise waste and make the most of every harvest

Every farm is different, but one thing they have in common is a commitment to producing high-quality food while looking after the countryside we all enjoy.

By choosing local, you’re helping to support the people who grow, rear and produce food with care, right here in the UK.

How do you support sustainable farming? Tell us in the comments! 👇

Hi everyone, meet Doug, our adopted mascot. Doug got left at the farm shop months ago & sadly his owner never returned for him so our staff have given him a name & adopted him. If Doug’s original owner recognises him & would like to take him home just speak to one of our staff.
In the meantime, Doug is recommending some of brymoricecreamparlour frozen dog treats, to help cool down in this lovely hot weather we’ve been having!
