5 mins old and already up and at it...not many dairy black and white calves to come now, we will soon be welcoming the fluffy black aberdeen angus calves to the party. ⚫️⚫️ flamingfarmers

Calving is getting nearly into full swing as the cows are hitting due date... the heifers are popping out calves thick and fast these last two weeks and are now becoming part of the milking herd and upto now been on best behaviour in the milking parlour which makes our lives a little less stressful. The picture was taken tonight whilst out doing night checks this beauty was born at 8:30 this morning and its another little girl 😍

The first bunch of cows to go on their holidays as today was the start of dry off... this is where the cows take a break from the milking parlour for 8 weeks and put their energy and nutrients into growing the calf as this is when the calf grows the most and fairly rapidly.

Not only that, drying them off also gives the udder chance to repair and any cows that have had high cells in the past get treated and hopefully come right in the next lactation.

All cows recieve a pedicure aswel to make sure their feet are in top condition for the weight bearing of both calf and milk once due date is closer.

Ps... i dont know why they look like meerkats..weirdo's!
