Despite a huge number of challenges this week (we won’t go into detail but just imagine a stack of silly things, outside of our control, continually going wrong and trying to stop us from getting things done) the amazing The Curious Brownie Company team have pulled it out of the bag and produced everything needed for today’s artisan market in Malton.

And then we’ve just had news that the artisan market is in fact cancelled.

Due to high wind.

Someone, somewhere, has clearly had a bit too much fibre.

Annoying as it is, we support the organisers in making the difficult decision to cancel the event. It will inconvenience many and possibly annoy a small few, but the risk of even one person getting hurt in a Wizard of Oz inspired gazebo-to-the-face style incident just isn’t worth it.

On to the new, slightly bigger problem. Our brownies are already sliced into individual portions to be purchased individually. This means we can’t sell them on the website for delivery across the UK (maybe we should start selling individual brownie flavours on the website? a question for another time).

What we’ve decided to do with this frankly enormous amount of brownies (including some limited editions which aren’t available as part of our regular menu), is divert them to our stores in Haxby Curious Coffee Company Haxby and Easginwold Curious Coffee Co - Easingwold

The slightly more sceptical follower might think we’re using high winds as an opportunity to reduce food waste. They’d be absolutely right.

Hand made and baked fresh yesterday in our North Yorkshire production bakery. Available in store til 4pm on Saturday and 3pm on Sunday.

The story so far: Curious Kitchen.

We’ve trialled a bunch of new flavour ideas - some of them have been genuine bangers. The others have been… well, it’s probably best not to talk about them. Eddie’s only just stopped going on about the “yank nonsense” incident.

We’ve got a few more episodes dropping this week & then we’ll do a big fancy poll to find out which one is your favourite.

The flavour with the most votes will end up on the menu, both in-store & for nationwide delivery.

The other flavours will be lost to the unstoppable march of time, never to be spoken of again.

Anyway let’s keep it light and have a lovely Sunday shall we?

Which one’s your favourite so far?

April so far… 🥰 thanks for coming to see us at the various food markets & pop-ups this month (especially that rainy one where we all nearly got washed away) and for the nationwide delivery orders 🫶 we’ve got some exciting stuff happening next month - let’s just say The Curious Kitchen has helped us to figure out some new ideas 🤤 we may be trying new things but every batch will still be made fresh from scratch 🧑‍🍳

Curious Kitchen Ep. 5 — Lemon & Raspberry Blondie 🍋

Someone slid into our DMs asking for “something fruity.” We were curious.

Our gorgeous blondie base, lemon curd swirled through, fresh raspberries on top.

Basically a dessert for people who want to feel like they’re being healthy while absolutely not being healthy.

Vote or - Kinder Bueno: Who does it better?

TeamFee: Classic brownie, carefully drizzled Kinder Bueno Créme and generously placed Kinder Bueno Pieces

- Or -

TeamEddie: Classic brownie, an entire layer of Kinder Bueno Créme (which we didn’t film because Eddie was too excited and topped the brownie before we could even get the camera turned on), topped with another entire layer of milk chocolate, before finally being finished with Kinder Bueno Pieces.

Stop scrolling and send this to someone who loves Nutella.

We'll wait.

Our award-winning brownie, drizzled with nutella, topped with chopped hazelnuts and then ANOTHER drizzle of nutella. Wild.

Curious Kitchen Episode 3: Presented by head baker... Fee.

Considering Fiona didn't wanna be on-camera, she absolutely nailed this one. Except for all the toppings falling off right at the end. That bit was a complete disaster.

Otherwise, Fee has done a doohickey gosh-darn awesome job over yonder at the bakery, with this campfire-inspired recipe.

Our award-winning brownie (dark chocolate batter with white & milk chocolate chunks) topped with our version of graham crackers (we ended up using Leibniz biscuits - don't ask) and toasted marshmallows.

It takes us back to sitting in the back yard, while pops tuned up his '67 Chevy and ma sat on the porch. In her rocking chair. Doing crochet. Or other such random fictional nostalgic activities we've seen in the movies.

Should this one go on the menu? Now all y'all make sure to leave a comment below and this recipes gets enough love, it'll be available for nationwide delivery at the end of the month. God bless the Curious Kitchen 🇺🇸
