The Rowntree family bought Herbert House on Pavement in 1862 and ran their confectionery business here until 1925. Today, this historic York building has a rather different flavour.

It’s National Vodka Day - and the law states that vodka makers must post about it today. 🤣🤣🤣

Our 866 Viking Vodka is inspired by a vital year in the history of our city when the Vikings invaded and settled here - creating Jorvik, capital of the Kingdom of Northumbria.

Made with Yorkshire pure grain spirit along with hedgerow berries (prized for their gentle sweetness by the Vikings) and vanilla from hardy sea buckthorn which thrives on the Scandinavian coastline.

A delicious marriage of Yorkshire and the Norse lands.

Rutterkin our cat also features strongly on the bottles (Vikings loved their cats!)

We had such a lovely time on Thursday night celebrating York’s hospitality heroes.

We were on hand serving York Gin at the Hospitality Association York - HAY Awards at the Radisson Hotel York hosted by York’s brilliant Town Crier, Ben Fry.
�The People Team from the superb The Milner York won Team of the Year - and celebrated with a York Gin!

We also sponsored the Serving Superstar - won by Edina Illes of the beautiful Hotel Indigo York
