πŸ” STARTING A POULTRY FARM (Day 5)

Feed = your biggest cost.

If you get feeding wrong, you lose money.

πŸ‘‰ Broilers (per bird):
β€’ Starter: ~1 kg
β€’ Finisher: ~4 kg
(Total β‰ˆ 5 kg in 6–8 weeks)

πŸ‘‰ Layers:
β€’ Starter + Grower (0–18 weeks)
β€’ Layer mash (after point of lay)

Always give the RIGHT feed at the RIGHT stage.

Wrong feeding = poor growth & low egg production.

Do you know how much feed your birds consume? πŸ‘‡

πŸ” STARTING A POULTRY FARM (Day 4)

Your birds need a good home.

A proper poultry house should have:

βœ” Good direction
Build your house east–west to reduce direct sunlight and heat on the birds.

βœ” Ventilation
Allow fresh air in, but avoid strong direct winds.

βœ” Rain protection
Roof must not leak + proper drainage to prevent water entering the coop.
In areas with heavy rainfall, use tarps or side curtains to protect birds from wind-driven rain.

βœ” Dry floor
Wet litter = disease. Always keep the floor dry.

βœ” Enough space
Avoid overcrowding to reduce stress and disease.

A good house = healthy birds + better profit.

Do you already have your poultry house set up? πŸ‘‡

STARTING A POULTRY FARM - Day 3

Your success starts here: Day-old chicks.

Buying from a trusted hatchery is the foundation for a successful & productive flock. You can achieve this by enquiring and networking with other poultry farmers.
This practice will ensure you get healthy, well-bred chicks; to minimize early mortality and maximize profits.

βœ” Active and alert chicks
βœ” Bright eyes
βœ” No deformities

Bad chicks = future losses.

Where do you usually get your chicks from? πŸ‘‡

πŸ” FARM TIP

Overcrowding = hidden losses.

Too many birds in a small space can lead to:
❌ Stress
❌ Faster disease spread
❌ Poor growth & low egg production

πŸ“ Recommended space per bird:
πŸ‘‰ Broilers:
β€’ 1 – 1.5 sq ft per bird
β€’ (0.09 – 0.14 mΒ²)

πŸ‘‰ Layers:
β€’ 1.5 – 2 sq ft per bird
β€’ (0.14 – 0.19 mΒ²)

Giving your birds enough space improves health and increases profit.

Are your birds overcrowded? πŸ‘‡
