The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah on Thursday, 18 August 22, commissioned a newly constructed 180-bed Young Soldiers' accommodation at the 155 Armoured Regiment at Damango, Savannah Region.
The facility was constructed as part of efforts by the Army Headquarters to address the vast accommodation challenges faced by personnel of the Ghana Army.
The COAS in his remarks thanked the Chief of the Defence Staff and Service Chiefs for their continuous support to the Ghana Army. He also expressed appreciation and commendation to Messr JKY Ghana Ltd, for quality work done and for constructing the facility in record time.
He charged all personnel of the Regiment to ensure the facility is well maintained to ensure its longevity.
The COAS also used the occasion to cut the sod for the construction of Officers' Accommodation at the Regiment and Instructors Accommodation at the Army Special Operations Training School, Daboya.
He was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Staff Logistics, Major General Prince Osei-Owusu, the Deputy Chief Staff Officer Logistics at the Army HQ, Brigadier General KK Kumi and the Deputy Commander 15 Armoured Brigade, Colonel E Owusu-Ansah.
