I COULDN’T AFFORD A NEW WINTER JACKET WHEN I CAME TO CANADA. 🇨🇦


And honestly? I didn’t need one.

When I first came to Canada, I was broke. I got a solid winter jacket from Value Village, winter boots from Facebook Marketplace, and my winter clothes from thrift stores.

And I survived my first Canadian winter just fine. That was the most brutal winter I have experienced yet.

If this is your first winter in Canada, please don’t feel pressured to spend $350, $500 or even $1,000 on winter clothes because you’re new here.

Check Value Village, Salvation Army, Facebook Marketplace and other thrift stores. You can find really good-quality winter jackets, boots and winter wear for a fraction of the price. And i have seen people talking about bugs in thrifted clothes? I have never ever experienced that.

Today, I can afford a new winter jacket. Your story will change too! But when I first came to Canada, I couldn’t. So I thought to let you know that this is an option and you don’t have to be get broke trying to survive!

Newcomers, save your money. Canada is expensive enough. Shop smart.

🇨🇦 EXPRESS ENTRY TO CANADA: HOW DOES IT REALLY WORK?🍁

Express Entry is Canada’s online system for selecting skilled workers who want to become permanent residents. To enter in express entry, you are required to create a profile and receive Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The score is based on age, education, language and work experience. The score maximum is 1200. The higher you have, the higher the chances.

Here’s the process 👇🏽

✅️ Check eligibility
You need to qualify for at least one of the programs. If you are outside Canada, you qualify for number two and three, based on your skills.
🇨🇦 Canadian Experience Class
🇨🇦 Federal Skilled Worker Program
🇨🇦 Federal Skilled Trades Program

✅️ Take a language test.
IT CAN BE English test or French.
Most common is IELTS. The higher you get the better.

✅️ Get your education verified.

If your education is from outside Canada, you may need an Educational Credential Assessment. They evaluate your education level and its equivalency to Canadian education. Most commonly used is World Education services( WES)

✅️Create your Express Entry profile.
You enter your age, education, language results, work experience and other information.

✅️ Get your CRS score
Your profile is ranked based on factors such as age, education, language ability and work experience.

✅️ Wait for an invitation to apply
If your score is among the highest in that specific draw, IRCC will send you an Invitation to Apply.

✅️ Submit your PR application
After receiving an ITA, you generally have 60 days to submit your complete PR application

✅️ IRCC processes your application
This can include medical, biometrics, police/background checks and other requirements.

Its important to note, you can create your profile and stay in the pool for more than a year, based on the scores of other people in the pool.
It is also required more money for education verification, IELTS and proof of funds. So generally you need alot of resources for thia process, especially if you applying as a family.

One thing about Canadians is that you will hardly ever catch them saying they don't like the weather.
Winter comes: “it's my best season!” Summer comes: “man, I love sunbathing!” hahaha
Sometimes I wonder if they say these things to make everyone feel better about Canada’s weather, or if they genuinely mean it.

Me? I actually love snow. But I wish we could have rain immediately after every snowstorm to wash all the snow away. Because that period when everything starts melting and the cold comes with it… eish!
Anyway, there has been forecasts of severe winter for us this coming season, dust your jackets.

✅ What Is a Low-Wage LMIA?

A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) allows Service Canada to assess whether an employer can hire a temporary foreign worker.

Before receiving a positive LMIA, employers generally need to show that they genuinely tried to recruit Canadians and permanent residents. For Low-Wage applications, employers must normally advertise for at least 8 consecutive weeks within the three months before applying and continue at least one recruitment activity until Service Canada makes its decision.
