Cattle Farmers, Please Take Note

Ticks are now becoming a big problem on many cattle farms. Many farmers are seeing more ticks on their animals these days.

Ticks suck blood from cattle and make them weak. They can also spread diseases like Babesiosis and Anaplasmosis. These diseases can make cattle sick, reduce their weight, and sometimes even cause death.

When ticks become too many, the animals do not grow well and farmers can lose money.

Farmers should check their cattle regularly and control ticks early before the problem becomes serious.

Let us protect our cattle and keep our farms healthy. A healthy herd means better profit for the farmer.

Many farmers get worried when their cattle keep losing weight even though they are giving them good feed every day. If this is happening on your farm, you need to look deeper because feed alone is not the only factor that determines weight gain.

One common cause is internal parasites. Worm infestation can prevent the animal from absorbing nutrients properly. Even when the feed is good, the body does not benefit fully. Regular deworming is very important.

Another cause is disease. or other bacterial problems can reduce appetite and slow down growth. When an animal is fighting infection, it uses energy to survive instead of gaining weight.

Poor quality water can also be a problem. Dirty or contaminated water affects digestion and overall health.

Dental problems are often ignored. If the animal has difficulty chewing, it will not eat properly even when feed is available.

Stress is another major factor. Overcrowding, long transportation, extreme heat, or sudden changes in feed can all affect weight gain.
As farmers, we must look at the whole system, not just the feed. Check your deworming schedule, observe for signs of illness, provide clean water, reduce stress, and consult a veterinary officer when necessary.

Healthy cattle should show steady growth. If they are not gaining weight, there is always a reason. Find it early and protect your investment

We must learn to keep our farms clean at all times. When you visit some farms, the environment is not presentable. A dirty surrounding does not only look bad, it also affects the health and performance of the animals.

An unhygienic environment puts cattle under stress. When animals are stressed, their immune system becomes weak, and they easily fall sick. This can lead to frequent disease outbreaks, slow growth, low milk production, weight loss, and in serious cases, death.

Dirty pens allow parasites, bacteria, and flies to spread quickly. Wet and muddy floors can cause foot rot and lameness. When manure is left to accumulate, ammonia levels rise and this can cause breathing problems. Feed and water that are not clean can also lead to digestive issues.

Clean farms produce healthier cattle. Healthy cattle grow faster, reproduce better, and bring better returns. Good farm management is not only about feeding. Cleanliness is part of professionalism. If we want to run profitable farms, we must treat hygiene as a priority, not an option.

Let us raise our standards and build farms we can proudly show to anyone. A clean farm means healthy cattle and better profit.

Tylosin cases are increasing in many cattle farms and farmers need to be very careful. Many people are losing their animals because they do not notice the signs early or they treat the problem wrongly.

Tylosin is not a disease. It is an antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections in livestock. When farmers talk about Tylosin disease, they are usually referring to infections that require this treatment.

Watch out for signs like coughing, nasal discharge, difficult breathing, fever, swelling between the claws, lameness, bad smell from the hoof, weight loss, weakness, isolation, and high body temperature.

Early detection and quick veterinary attention can save your cattle and prevent heavy losses. Stay alert and protect your investment.

2026 Let’s Start Small and Grow Big

This 2026 I want to encourage all my followers especially those who cannot yet afford a cow sheep or goat to start with rabbits ducks or local hens.

Let us take rabbit farming as an example.

A matured doe can be bought for 250 to 300 Ghana cedis and a buck is also around the same price. Let us assume you spend 500 Ghana cedis to buy one doe and one buck. In some cases the doe may even be pregnant already.

After mating it takes about 30 days for a rabbit to give birth. After delivery you only need between two weeks and one month depending on feeding and management to mate the doe again. A healthy rabbit can give birth to seven kits or even more at a time.

Now imagine repeating this process consistently for six months. You will be surprised because you may not even be able to count the number of rabbits you will have.

Rabbits are very easy to sell. Restaurants buy them individuals buy them and you can even place a cage by a busy roadside sit down and watch how people will ask for prices and show interest.

This is how wealth begins small simple and strategic.

My next post will be on ducks.
Let us all decide to start small this 2026 and grow steadily.

We are grateful for how far Allah has brought us. We may not be where we want to be yet but we have moved forward from where we were yesterday and that alone is a reason to be thankful.

We have many projects ahead of us that we hope to complete by the end of 2026. We pray for good health strength and Allah’s guidance to help us achieve them.

We would not have come this far without the likes comments and shares from our followers. We truly appreciate your support and we hope that someone somewhere has learned something from our page or found the courage to start a journey into farming.

Happy New Year
