As poultry farmer, never make the mistake of depending on only one type of customer.
When that customer delays payment or stops buying, the farmer begins to panic.
If you want to sell your pigs consistently and build a profitable livestock business, you need different categories of buyers.
1. Retail Customers
These are individuals who buy often for personal consumption. They may be families, neighbors, church members, colleagues, or friends.
Retail customers usually pay immediately and often don't negotiate as aggressively as bulk buyers.
2. Bulk Buyers
These include restaurants, caterers, food vendors, hotels, supermarkets, frozen food stores, and poultry dealers.
Bulk buyers purchase larger quantities and can become repeat customers if your swine are healthy and your supply is consistent. Build relationships with them before your animals are ready for sale.
3. Referral Customers
These are people who recommend your farm to others. They may be past customers, friends, relatives, church members, or people who enjoy your content online.
A single satisfied customer can bring you several new customers without you spending money on advertising. Take care of your customers, and they'll help grow your business.
4. Fellow Farmers (The One That Surprises Many People!)
Many poultry farmers see other farmers as competitors. Successful farmers see them as partners.
There will be times when another farmer receives an order they can't fulfill. If they trust you, they can buy birds from you or refer the customer to you.
Build genuine relationships with other livestock farmers. Attend meetings, join farmer groups, and support one another.
Sometimes, your next biggest customer won't be a restaurant or supermarket, it will be another livestock farmer..🐷🐽 BBC BBC News TV3 Ghana Wodemaya
