was the writing on the sign outside Diego’s Café/Restaurant; “Mavro Provato”. That day we drove to an existing brewery on Crete to make our first official Cretan brew for the locals living in the Lassithi area. Now this grammatically wrong wording has become our slogan. Diego is the brew master and has been living on Crete since 2015. Over the past 10 years he developed a range of classic beers in
cluding a Pilsener, IPA, Ale, Weisse and Vienna. Moving from Italy 2015 and opening “Mavro Provato” he was the first to serve cretan craft beer in the Lassithi area. It proved a great success and the idea to start a brewery was becoming reality. Oliver loves beer and has retired from being a professional hard rock musician and IT specialist. Having a house in the Lassithi area since 2006 he is now moving to Crete permanently to follow some of his dreams of which one is the desire to create something unique and fun in the area of Lassithi.
