Like summer of 1999
Finally now that everything is in order and looking back on this year vintage it is clear to us that it was from the longer ones or should I say from the normal ones.
The growing season was very favourable here with extremely cold summer nights and patches of rain with perfect timing.
In recent years we got used to a faster, almost frenetic picking pace ,rushing through plots in order to preserve that precious acidity. However this year the grapes smell better and they taste better as well.
Our main goal for this year was to try to restrain ourselves from picking. Treat the grapes gently. Waiting enough for that exact right moment that the grapes would have the perfect balance of taste and acidity .
In the cellar we tried to switch direction, limiting the extended use of stem as the grapes had a gentle sweet taste with perfect acidity . Yet again the above might just be me and my mood.
At the moment the fermentations are progressing slowly and steadily as everything falls slowly in place.
In a strange way my 25 harvest with my family brought the same excitement and happiness as my first one.
