It’s the heart of summer, and while many are enjoying lazy days by the sea, we’re busy taking care of our olive trees.

These are our Manaki olive trees, a beautiful Greek variety known for producing exceptional olive oil. Their olives are slightly larger than most and can even be prepared as table olives, but for us, they have one special purpose, creating the delicious extra virgin olive oil that you’ll find in our kitchen.

Every drop starts right here, with a little sunshine, plenty of care, and a lot of love for the land.

Taking care of all our olive trees and harvesting the olives is one of the things I love most. These are the same trees my grandfather planted in 1950, and later my father dedicated himself to caring for. Being able to continue the work they started so many years ago fills me with pride.

Seeing our olive oil now being sold in stores in the Netherlands, and soon through our own online shop, is something I am incredibly proud of. It means that the dedication, hard work, and passion that have been passed down through generations continue to live on. I hope my father and grandfather would be just as proud of what we have achieved and where this journey is taking us.

We are creating a large number of goodie bags for a beautiful anniversary celebration. Of course, we’re including our olive oil together with several other local family products, like honey and traditional Greek pasta.

My grandparents also really wanted to be part of this special project, so they went on a little adventure into the mountains where they handpicked fresh oregano and thyme straight from nature.

You honestly won’t find a more special goodie bag than this, made with local products, family traditions, and a whole lot of love. And honestly, this photo is just too cute not to share 🤍

It’s the whole process and the history behind it that make this work so rewarding. In memory of Dimitris Lalis—my grandfather—who decided in 1950 to start planting olive trees on our farm, and Nikos—my father—who began working there from the age of 14. Being able to carry their legacy forward, and knowing that our olive oil is now here in the Netherlands, being sold and enjoyed, truly warms my heart.

Apart from the fact that we have a huge number of olive trees, we also have quite a lot of orange, mandarin, and lemon trees on our land. Tomorrow we’re going to make marmalade from them, so today we went to the farm to do a lot of picking.

It’s really about doing things together. Sharing lunch, sharing time, just being there ❤️
