If you ask us where quality begins, we’d probably point to this hand.

Not because it’s holding perfect cherries, but because it’s the hand that knew which ones to pick.

We spend a lot of time talking about varieties, fermentation, and drying. But none of that matters if harvest doesn’t begin with care.

That’s something no machine has learned how to replace.

Freshly washed coffee isn’t brown.

At this stage, it’s still wrapped in its protective parchment, slowly drying under the Guatemalan sun. The beautiful brown color we all recognize only appears later, after milling and roasting. ❤️✨

Coffee is rarely sitting still around here.

While one lot is drying, another is fermenting.

While one process is finishing, another is just beginning.

These fermentation tanks may not look particularly exciting at first glance, but inside them something remarkable is happening. Natural sugars, microorganisms, temperature, and time are working together to create complexity and character that will eventually make their way into the cup.

A lot is happening beneath the surface.

Just like most worthwhile things in life.

Another day at the office.

Well, not exactly.

You put on your favorite tunes, turn up the volume, and get ready for the day ahead. But this job takes more than a good playlist. It takes focus, rhythm, patience, and the ability to know exactly when a cherry is ready to leave the branch and begin its journey.

Every pass through the field is filled with hundreds of small decisions. Which cherries are ready today? Which ones need another day, another sunrise, another afternoon under the Acatenango sky?

And then there are the office views.

No matter how many years you spend here, you never quite get used to them. The volcano standing quietly in the distance. The endless shades of green. The cool mountain air that reminds you where you are and why this work matters.

Not a bad place to spend the day.

Not a bad office at all.

Grateful beyond words.

Today reminded us that a great harvest doesn’t begin on auction day, it starts months before, with God’s grace, the love of our family, the dedication of our amazing team, and everyone who cares for each coffee tree throughout the year. 🙏

There are few sights we enjoy more than this one.

A patio filled with coffee and a sky that cannot quite decide what it wants to do.

The drying process often looks simple from a distance.

Spread the coffee.

Wait.

Repeat.

But every day brings new decisions. Move it. Turn it. Cover it. Uncover it. Watch the clouds. Watch the sun.

The coffee is always teaching patience.

Thankfully, harvest season gives us plenty of opportunities to practice.

Sometimes you find a smile hiding between the coffee trees.

And somehow it feels a lot like seeing the morning sun appear behind Acatenango.

Simple. Genuine. Impossible not to notice.

Harvest season brings long days, steep hills, full baskets, and plenty of hard work. Yet the thing we remember most is often the attitude people bring to the field.

A good harvest is built with experience and dedication.

But it is made better with joy.

And around here, we are fortunate to find plenty of both.

If you listen carefully, it almost sounds like rain.

From blossoms that appeared long before harvest season arrived. From cherries that slowly ripened under the Acatenango sun. From hands that carefully selected them one by one. From long days in the field, full baskets, drying beds, and countless small decisions that most people will never see.

And now, here they are.

Falling like a storm of coffee.

One of the things we love most about farming is that every stage has its own sound. The wind moving through the trees. The laughter of our team during harvest. The dryers turning through the night. And this unmistakable sound of coffee moving from one step to the next.

For us, it never gets old.

Maybe because every bean that falls carries a little piece of the journey that brought it here.

And maybe because, after all these years, watching coffee rain from the sky is still just as satisfying as the first time we saw it.
