To everyone who witnessed today's situation, I would like to sincerely apologize for losing my cool. The reality is that this has been the result of months of frustration, and today it finally boiled over.
After my brother passed away in June, I went through a difficult period and was uncertain about what I wanted to do with the space I had acquired. Eventually, I decided to share the space with the business that's there currently.
In October, I confirmed with her that the space was still available and that I would be coming on board. My name was never removed from the tenancy agreement. I asked what the payment arrangement would be since I had not been there, and I was told it would remain the same: half and half.
When I moved to Berbice in October, I continued making all agreed payments despite not actively using the space. At that time, the space had not been developed and was primarily being used for storage and office purposes.
After making my payments, I requested a copy of the tenancy agreement. I was told there was no space for me to sign. When I contacted the landlord directly, I was informed otherwise and was provided with the agreement to sign, as I had paid half of the deposit and half of the rent.
Since then, I have repeatedly and respectfully asked for access to the portion of the space I have been paying for. Those requests were denied on multiple occasions. Even after the landlord instructed that I be given access to my portion of the premises, that request was still not honored.
I struggle to understand the reasoning behind being expected to pay half of the rent, half of the utilities, and remain listed as a tenant on the agreement while being denied access to the space I am helping to fund.
My greatest regret is recommending that this opportunity be extended in the first place.
Many people know how long Cafe Clover and Spa Clover have operated from this location and the effort that has gone into building these businesses. My intention has always been to work professionally, fairly, and respectfully. Despite today's emotions, I remain committed to resolving this matter through the proper channels.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout this journey.
