Veggie Boys was founded by five 'boys' in February 2014. We eat healthy and exercise a lot. Our friends around us are also very health-conscious. Hence, we decided to do whole-fruit blended vegetable and fruit drinks. All detox programs and similar drinks in the market were very pricey. We believed that we could do it at a much more affordable price point. We keep our packaging to the minimal. We
save on marketing. One of the owners had 20 years of experience in public relations and another is a designer. Hence, a lot of this 'costly' work is done more cost-effectively. We consulted a nutritionist for advice on the ingredients for different functions - detox, digestion, skin, anti-oxidant, etc. We also did a lot of research on the internet and by reading books on the topic. We created recipes with four ingredients in each drink, offering different colors, benefits, textures and levels of sweetness. Each vegetable and fruit has its own nutrients and minerals and benefits to the human body. We recommend people to have a diverse and balanced consumption and not just stick with any one kind of vegetables. Some of the natural ingredients we feature include baby spinach, curly kale, purple cabbage, beetroot, chia seed, berries and romaine lettuce, etc. Most full-time workers in Hong Kong don't consume enough vegetables and fruits from their usual meals. If nothing else, the drinks are an easy way for them to have the necessary whole-fruit fiber they require every day. We have also mixed fruits into the vegetable fruits so that even beginners find them delicious to drink. One of the owners has about ten years of cocktail mixing experience and managed to balance the sweetness, acidity, texture and color. Our drinks consist of only vegetables and fruits. There are no additives (no sugar, honey, coloring, dairy, flavoring, concentrate, preservatives, etc.) Customers can choose to buy individual drinks ($40-54) or a one day ($245) or three day ($720) detox program. Several months into our business, the most popular drinks are drink A for detox (beetroot, carrot, apple, lemon & ginger), drink J for digestion (baby spinach, banana, mango & blueberries) and drink K2 with kale, banana, avocado and strawberry, which provides a lot of energy and protein. Delivery from Sheung Wan to Admiralty is free. A transportation fee applies for areas beyond Admiralty. We are already serving some major banks and audit firms (through corporate employee offers) and are supplying juices to a high-end member's club in Central. We are also working with a private hospital as a health drinks supplier for the wellness programs they promote to big corporations.
