【Hisayo’s Sushi Roll/ Natto Sushi Roll】
【久代巻き・納豆巻き】 【久代卷・納豆卷 】

✔️ Affordable, Quick, and Easy Recipe
✔️ A staple menu for birthday parties, sleepovers, and potlucks! 👍
✔️ Both kids and adults will enjoy it together! 😍

This is a “delicious and cheap” sushi roll recipe made by my mother for kids. ✨💖
The natto roll can even help kids who dislike natto start eating it! 🤪

Serves 3-4
White rice: 2 cups
Sushi vinegar: 4-5 tbsp
Nori sheets (large sushi rolls): 10 sheets


Eggs: 3
Sugar: 2 tsp
Salt: a pinch
Cucumbers: 2
Paul Wiener sausages (pre-cooked sausages in orange film) 5
Mayonnaise to taste


Natto 1-2 packs
Green onions 1-2


1. Cook 2 cups of rice (use slightly less water than usual). While still hot, mix in sushi vinegar.
2. When mixing, move the rice paddle in a cutting motion (to avoid crushing the grains).
※ If someone can help, have them fan the rice with a hand fan or similar⭕️

Prepare toppings
3. Finely chop the green onions.
4. Mix the natto with the included soy sauce.
5. Add salt and sugar to the egg mixture and beat.
6. Heat oil in a frying pan and make an omelet.
7. Cut the omelet into sticks.
8. Roll the cucumber in salt on the cutting board, peel, and cut into sticks.
9. Remove the wieners from the package and cut them in half.
10. Place nori on the sushi mat and spread the sushi rice thinly, leaving about 3 cm free at one end.  

Hisayo Roll
11. Arrange cucumber, sausage, and egg about 2 cm from the front edge. Drizzle a thin line of mayonnaise over them.

Natto Roll
12. Place natto and green onion about 2 cm from the front edge.
13. Roll tightly using the bamboo mat as support.
14. Cut into appropriate pieces and arrange on a plate.


⚫️Even if you can't roll it perfectly, that's part of the charm.
⚫️Putting too much sushi rice or filling makes it harder to roll.

【Veggie-Packed Meat Pasta: A Kid-Friendly Delight】
【野菜嫌いキッズも大好き、ミートパスタ】

When my son was little, I often made this after work because it only takes about 20 minutes. Pasta dishes tend to lack vegetables, but this one combines protein and veggies, so it feels guilt-free even though it’s quick and easy.

Even kids who get bummed out by veggies will love this pasta.. It’s super delicious, so please give it a try~!

(Serves 3–4)
Ground beef 250g (mixed ground meat is fine)
Tomatoes 2
Onion ½
Carrot ½ small
Snow peas 3-4 (bell peppers or green beans are fine)
Garlic 1 clove
Salt, pepper, olive oil to taste
White wine 100ml
Bouillon cube ½ cube
Italian parsley to taste
Parmesan cheese (grated) to taste
Spaghetti 300g


1.Cut the tomato into 1 cm cubes. Finely chop the onion, snow peas, carrot, and garlic. Lightly chop parsley.
2. Heat oil in a frying pan. Sauté the onion until softened, then add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
3. Add ground meat, breaking it up as you stir-fry. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Add tomatoes, carrots, and snow peas. Stir-fry briefly, then pour in white wine and bouillon. Simmer on low heat for about 20 mins.
5. Boil pasta in plenty of salted water (add a pinch of salt and a little olive oil) for 30 seconds less than package instructions.
6. Transfer pasta to meat sauce pan. Adjust with a little pasta water and salt/pepper to taste.
7. Finish by sprinkling with parsley and Parmesan cheese.


⚫️Green veggies like bell peppers, snow peas, or green beans work well.
⚫️If finely chopping carrots feels tedious, microwave or par‑boil them first. They’ll chop easier and break down faster during cooking.
⚫️If simmering or chopping tomatoes is a hassle, you can use canned diced tomatoes instead.
⚫️If you have time, blanching/ peeling tomatoes is ideal, but since skin is nutritious, we keep it on at home.
⚫️Add white wine gives a light sweetness & makes dish taste even better.

【Japanese deep fry shrimp】
【エビフライ】【日式炸蝦】

✔️ Simply delicious ebi fry 💖
✔️ Adding tartar sauce elevates it even more 😊

Making tartar sauce from poached eggs saves time and is easy. It’s so irresistible you’ll want to eat the ebi fry with tartar sauce 😍

This recipe includes pickled cucumber and rakkyo, making it gentle on your gut too.

Serves 3-4
Shrimp About 8 pieces
Potato starch, salt, pepper, paprika A little of each
Flour, beaten egg, breadcrumbs, frying oil As needed


Egg 1
Onion 1/4
Mayonnaise 2-3 tbsp
Salt & pepper to taste
Vinegar 1 tsp
Pickled garlic or pickled cucumber 1 piece
Parsley, etc. to taste


1. Lightly rub shrimp with potato starch and salt, rinse with water, and pat dry with paper towels.
2. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and paprika, then let sit briefly.

(Tartar Sauce)
3. Fill a pot with enough water to cover the eggs. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and add vinegar.
4. Gently crack eggs into a ladle, then slide them into the simmering water.
5. After about 5 minutes, gently push the eggs from the outside. If they feel firm, remove them from the water.
6. Pat dry with paper towels. Cut into 5mm cubes using an egg slicer (finely chopping is also fine).
7. Finely chop the onion and pickled radish. Combine with the diced egg, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper (add finely chopped parsley if desired).

8. Coat the shrimp from step 2 with flour, shake off excess, dip in beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
9. Fry in 180°C (356°F) oil until the coating is golden brown and crispy.


⚫️ Drain the poached eggs well.
⚫️ Adding paprika to the salt and pepper gives it a stylish flavor.
⚫️ For the tartar sauce, finely chopped parsley, shallots, or shiso leaves can be added to taste for enhanced flavor.

【Tuna Can Baguette Sandwich】

It’s perfect for home parties or entertaining lots of guests because it’s easy to make and yields plenty.

For adults, using extra onions makes it healthier & packs a punch—a crowd favorite.

Simple & few ingredients, yet delicious and never boring—truly recommended for home parties, potlucks, picnics, and weekend brunches~!

Serves 3-4
Baguette 1 loaf
Canned tuna 1 can
Onion ½
Mayonnaise 2-3 tbsp
Lettuce or mixed greens As needed
Butter A little
Salt & Pepper to taste
Pink Peppercorns to taste


1. Finely chop the onion.
2. Drain the oil from the tuna well. Mix with the onion, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper.
3. Slice the baguette diagonally into 2cm thick pieces. Make a cut about 9/10 of the way through each slice to create a pocket for the filling.
4. Spread butter on the inside of the baguette slices. Fill with lettuce or mixed greens and the tuna mixture.
5. Finish by sprinkling pink peppercorns over the top.


⚫️ A slightly softer baguette makes it easier to assemble the sandwich.
⚫️ For the tuna can, press the lid firmly against the tuna to squeeze out the oil well before cutting—it gives a cleaner, lighter finish.
⚫️ Sliced cucumber also works great instead of lettuce or mixed greens.
⚫️ Red pepper adds both flavor and a nice visual accent, so it’s handy to keep on hand!
⚫️ I learned from someone knowledgeable in Chinese medicine that not soaking onions in water is more effective for lowering blood pressure, so I use them as-is after cutting. But if you don’t like the sharpness, feel free to soak them in water.

【Salmon & Ikura WAPPA Rice】
【鮭といくらのわっぱ飯 】
【鮭魚親子炊飯 】
✔️ A super easy recipe: just cook salmon in a rice cooker and mix! 🍚
✔️ For home parties, finish it in a clay pot right at the table for extra excitement 👍
✔️ Simple yet luxurious—perfect as the final dish to impress 😍

This is a menu I used to order often at my favorite small Japanese restaurant 💖

Serves 3-4
White rice: 2 cups
Sake: 2 tbsp
Soy sauce: 1 tbsp
Kombu: 1-2 sheets (cut into 3cm pcs)
Salmon fillet: 1-2 pcs
Sushi vinegar: 4-5 tbsp


Ikura 80-100 g
Cucumber 1
Green shiso leaves 4-5
White sesame seeds to taste


1. Lightly sprinkle salt on the salmon and let sit briefly (skip if using salted salmon)
2. Rinse the white rice, add slightly less water than usual, and let sit for about 30 minutes (longer in cold weather) ※ If using a rice cooker, skip this step

< Prepare toppings >
3. Peel cucumber, slice thinly with a slicer, lightly sprinkle with salt.
4. Finely shred green shiso leaves.
5. Once cucumber releases moisture, gently squeeze out excess liquid.
(After 30 minutes)
6. Add kombu, sake, and soy sauce.
7. Lightly pat salmon dry with paper towels and place on top of rice.
8. Place the clay pot over medium-high heat. Once it starts bubbling, reduce to very low heat and cook for about 10 minutes.
9. If moisture is still bubbling vigorously when you open the pot, cover and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
10. Before turning off the heat, increase to high for 10 seconds, then turn off.
11. Let steam, covered, for 10 minutes.
12. Remove the lid and take out the salmon and kombu.
13. While the rice is still hot, mix in the sushi vinegar, then quickly combine the flaked salmon, cucumber, and white sesame seeds.
14. Top with salmon roe and green shiso leaves to finish.


⚫️ Boneless salmon fillets are best.
⚫️ Rice cooker works well too.

✔️ Perfect for lunch boxes or as a tasty snack! 💖
✔️ Rich dashi flavor in Kansai style, or sweet Kanto style 😊
✔️ Today’s recipe: Sweet Kanto style! 😊
Both Kansai and Kanto styles have their own home flavors 🎵
This time, we made it slightly sweet, Kanto-style 👍
Prefer Kansai style? Swap mirin for sake 🙆
Don’t worry if your roll isn’t perfect—
Try fun twists like adding mentaiko or nori inside!

 Serves 1
Eggs 3
Sugar 1 tsp
Soy sauce 1 tsp
Dashi stock 3 tbsp
Mirin 1/2 tbsp
Oil (for frying) as needed


Grated daikon radish as needed
Soy sauce a little


1. Beat the eggs (if there are any white lumps, it’s okay to remove them).
2. Mix the seasonings well until the sugar dissolves.
3. Add mixture 2 to mixture 1 and combine.
4. Heat an egg pan (or frying pan for omelets), then add oil.
5. Pour a small amount of egg mixture with chopsticks. Once the pan is hot enough, spread the egg thinly across the surface. Use chopsticks to break any bubbles while cooking. Flip from the front edge and roll into a cylinder.
6. Finally, brown to your liking. Roll using a bamboo mat and let rest for about 1 minute.
7. Serve with grated daikon radish and soy sauce, or other toppings of your choice.


⚫️ Mix the eggs by cutting through them, not whisking to create bubbles.
⚫️ Mixing the seasonings separately makes them easier to incorporate.
⚫️ When cooking, add oil frequently. The sign to roll is when the edges set and peel away from the pan with chopsticks.
