I miss my boss.
The most important man of my life apart from my dad. (My most beloved PhD supervisor, later colleague in the faculty, who has known me since my undergraduate years.)
We made efforts for a reunion in , England two years ago. It's another life after everything has happened, where I was not able to take up an AP role in his/our area after his retirement, where academic freedom has been severely contested in homeland, where we have left our uni and department.
He's always the one who enlightened me with the best advice in life. For many years I wondered how I could survive as a scholar and man without him. Yet after leaving home, I came to realise his wisdom continues to shape me, even as the physical distance grows wider.
At parting, unsure when, or whether, we would meet again -
"I'm afraid you'd one day forget me as you got older... 🥺", said I.
He turned around, with the same playful wink, "unforgettable!" 😉
but he's #我愛老細
