Black is surprisingly difficult to attain, even with black gel colour. I read on the internet that you can do two things: you can add cocoa powder and that the colour will darken once it’s had some time in the fridge. I did both!

Loved mixing bolder colours than I’m used to. This orange is a vivid Shanghai Tang kind of shade.

This is a playful but elegant vanilla sponge with buttercream frosting, stuffed with sugar pearls on the top and around the cake circumference. Gum paste flowers grace the top of the cake.
