✨Meet Château Fortia at Hall 1 H092 in this week!

Located close to the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Vaucluse, Château Fortia is one of the oldest Châteauneuf-du-Pape properties, dating back to the 18th century. Fortia once belonged to Baron Le Roy (for whom the Fortia “Cuvée du Baron” is named), who laid the foundation of the AOC system.

Today, the estate is a special blend of tradition and modernity, with low intervention farming, exacting care of the vineyards, and a wonderful new cellar combining to create the delicious wines of Fortia. 🍷

A complex scent of candied lemon, peach, brioche, smoky oak and flint. Full and intense in taste with pure citrus fruit and lively fresh acidity. The finale is impressively long with notes of butter, toast and grapefruit. ‘La Barre’ is a site that can touch Premiers Crus quality, lies right outside the village of Meursault and features soils of Jurassic marl and limestone.

Thanks to the three-level cellar carved out of limestone, the wines of Domaine Michel Caillot undergo extended fermentation and ageing periods. After a year in barrel, the wines are transferred to tanks alongside their lees, where they remain for up to three or even four years post-harvest. This extended lees contact gives the wines that are full flavoured and textually rich but never fat. These are singularly expressive wines which drink beautifully from release but can age for many years.

Domaine L’Aigle à Deux Têtes (Double-Headed Eagle, in homage to the Habsburg emblem), established in 2005 by Henri le Roy, a former pharmaceuticals professional turned winemaker.
•
Inspired by his passion and love for exceptional wines, particularly Burgundy, Henri ventured into winemaking, turning his hobby into a profession. Henri began searching for vineyards in Jura, offering affordable vineyard land and a conducive environment to launch his venture.

With just 2.5 hectares of vineyards, the domaine possesses two exceptional plots: the 'Derrière de la Roche', home to Chardonnay vines over 80 years old, nestled in the renowned Jurassic Marne Bleu terroir. The Clos 'Les Clous' in Vincelles showcases Poulsard and Savagnin vines aged over 100 years.
•
Indigenous grapes such as Poulsard and Trousseau, and Pinot Noir are used for the reds. The Trousseau and Pinot Noir is juicy, fresh, and quite Burgundian in expression with great drinkability. Diverging from tradition, Henri chooses the ouillé style of winemaking for his whites, yielding elegant whites imbued with fruits and floral notes, while retaining the distinctive minerality characteristic of Jura.

Our team particularly adores the 'Les Clous' cuvée, a vibrant Poulsard displaying bright fruits and herbaceous aromas, followed by subtle earthy notes, pleasant acidity with silky smooth tannin. Enjoyed slightly chilled! 😉🍷
