2009 Senejac is made by the same wine making team as Pontet Canet - this 2009 vintage also scored way above previous vintages with 93 points by Parker - most previous vintages were mid 80s.

Review

"This is a major sleeper of the vintage and the finest Senejac I have tasted. The team from Pontet Canet, who have done such a phenomenal job at that estate, were in charge of making this Senejac, and the result, not surprisingly, is a sensational wine that consumers need to buy by the case. Dense purple, with notes of creme de cassis, incense, licorice and forest floor, this wine is delicious and full-bodied, with sweet tannins, low acidity, copious fruit and exceptional concentration. Everything is in balance, and the wine is capable of lasting 10 or more years."

2010 has been lauded by Robert Parker as the vintage of a lifetime (again!) - indeed he handed out 100 point scores like Santa Claus at Xmas time.
One of the wines that collected the coveted 100 point perfect score from Parker was 2010 Pontet Canet. This was a huge on the back of 2009 also scoring 100 .As such this wine is a bargain compared to the first growths that score 100 points (and can cost $10000+ !).

We have only just over 2 dozen available @ $1800.

Here is Robert Parkers review (tasted twice - we guess he liked it):

Review

"An absolutely amazing wine, from grapes harvested between the end of September and October 17, this blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot has close to 15% natural alcohol. It comes from one of the few biodynamic vineyards in Bordeaux, but you are likely to see many more, given the success that Tesseron seems to be having at all levels, both in his vineyards and in his fermentation/winemaking. An astounding, compelling wine with the classic Pauillac nose more often associated with its cross-street neighbor, Mouton-Rothschild, creme de cassis, there are also some violets and other assorted floral notes. The wine has off-the-charts massiveness and intensity but never comes across as heavy, overbearing or astringent. The freshness, laser-like precision, and full-bodied, massive richness and extract are simply remarkable to behold and experience. It is very easy, to become jaded tasting such great wines from a great vintage, but it is really a privilege to taste something as amazing as this. Unfortunately, it needs a good decade of cellaring, and that's assuming it doesn't close down over the next few years. This is a 50- to 75-year wine from one of the half-dozen or so most compulsive and obsessive proprietors in all of Bordeaux. Is there anything that proprietor Alfred Tesseron is not doing right? Talk about an estate that is on top of its game! Pontet-Canet's 2010 is a more structured, tannic and restrained version of their most recent perfect wine, the 2009. Kudos to Pontet-Canet!".

I have just landed a collection of Penfolds Grange that was collected by an employee of Penfolds for over 25 years. He bought 1 dozen every year since 1991 until 2003. He has now retired and has sold a good part of his collection to myself. I can now offer the following which have perfect provenance as they have been stored at Penfolds winery. From 32-year-old vines; French oak barrel-fermented and matured. Excellent intensity and equally impressive balance and freshness; the varietal fruit expression spans, nectarine, white peach, green apple and grapefruit; the oak is subtle. The one snake in the Garden of Eden is the ProCork, which sould prevent taint, but has no 10-year-plus track record of combating random oxidation.

“Pale yellow appearance with a fleck of green on the rim, there are appealing ripe fruit aromatics of peach and melon. Some citrus fruits are also evident with a hint of smokiness and some spices. The front palate has a very fresh citrus fruit flavour and an underlying spice that extends to the back of the palate. “This has an alarmingly deep colour for pinot and there is no sign of age on the rim. The aroma is an inviting blend of Burgundian-like cherry fruit, hints of earth and a most alluring spiciness. There is also some of the forest floor for which the Bass Phillip pinots have become famous. The flavours dance around the mouth with vibrant berry fruits, earth and spice. There is substantial weight in the middle palate and the flavours persist for a long time. This is a quintessential ‘Estate’ wine and will repay cellaring for up to ten years.”
