There are wine regions you know for a grape. Then there are regions worth knowing for the journey they take you on.

Aconcagua is one of those places. It is a valley where a wine tasting can become part of a much bigger experience, with historic cellars, boutique producers, mountain landscapes and a wine route that makes the region easy to explore over a weekend.

It is also a reminder that Chilean wine has far more to offer than the familiar names on a shelf. Behind every bottle is a landscape, a story and, often, a place that is just waiting to be explored.

Our latest edition of Inside Chile’s Wine Regions takes you to Aconcagua.

Which Chilean wine region should we explore next?

Before Australian wine became a major name in China, it had to answer a much simpler question:

Why Australia?

In a market already familiar with Old World names and increasingly open to wines from everywhere, Australian producers had to give people a reason to remember them.

They did.

This is the story of how Australia found its place in one of the world's most important wine markets.

In a hotel dining room, a sommelier’s role goes beyond choosing the right bottle.

It is about understanding different guests, different cuisines and the many ways wine becomes part of the experience.

Kenny Tsui brings that perspective to the 2026 China Wine Competition judging panel. As a Sommelier at The Langham, Hong Kong, he works closely with wine service and food pairing in a luxury hospitality setting.

A Wine professional with a Certificate of Chinese Baijiu, Kenny also brings a broader understanding of the beverage world to his role. He is also a Wines of Portugal Ambassador.

That experience will be part of the conversation when the wines come to the judging table this year.

Some wines need more than a technical tasting. They need to be understood in the context of the market they are entering.

Cassidy Dart MW brings exactly that perspective to the 2026 China Wine Competition. Based in Beijing and the owner of Purple Grape Consultancy, Cassidy has more than two decades of experience across the international wine trade, with deep expertise in China, market strategy, distribution and commercial positioning.

As a Master of Wine, his perspective brings together technical knowledge and a strong understanding of what makes a wine work commercially in China. That makes him a valuable voice at a competition focused on wines for China's on-trade market.

We’re pleased to have Cassidy Dart MW at the judging table this year and look forward to the perspective he brings to the wines being assessed.

Mendoza is a useful case study in how a wine region can build global relevance around place, variety and long term market development.

What makes it particularly interesting for the trade is the depth within the region. Different elevations, soils and growing conditions are giving producers more room to build distinct wine styles and more precise regional identities. Luján de Cuyo is seeing renewed attention around its terroirs, while the Uco Valley continues to push Mendoza into conversations around freshness, altitude and premium positioning.

At the same time, Mendoza is continuing to invest in export relationships and international market access. Its recent activity in China, including trade missions and direct engagement with importers, shows how regional identity is being translated into commercial opportunity.

Swipe through for a closer look at one of Argentina's most important wine regions and some of the producers worth knowing.
