Day 20-23 of Walking Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 to Hong Kong 🇭🇰 !

Day 20: Kirchieb 🇩🇪 to Dierdorf 🇩🇪- 17miles/27km
Longer day than I anticipated with so much of my walk involving walking through wild forest! It was stunning to look at but pretty stressful to navigate and truly made me realise how important it is to only walk during sunlight hours!
There was literally nowhere to stop until the final 5 miles when I went into a pub called Heydorsch and my god was the hospitality lovely!
Firstly the kind bar lady offered me a drink for free (which I politely declined) and then when they found out I’d been walking all day a plate of sandwiches randomly appeared in front of me. So kind! I met a kind man in the pub who gave me his number and asked me to text him when I made it to Istanbul. I will!
Also on a separate note they say that Germany is a paradise for smokers and they are not lying. It was quite novel for me seeing a pub full of people smoking inside. Whilst a lot of people find smoking gross the smell of ci******es always reminds me of my grandad so I quite like it :)

Day 21: Dierdorf 🇩🇪 to Montabaur 🇩🇪- 12miles/20km
Felt low in mood today. I’m not sure why but truthfully sometimes I just get like this. I decided to call it quits after 12 miles and agreed with myself to take a rest day tomorrow to catch up on all of the admin that comes with the walk to stop myself feeling overwhelmed.
I wish I could be more positive about today but to be honest it was rough.

Day 22: REST DAY in Montabaur 🇩🇪
Took myself out for lunch and then cracked on with scheduling all my content and editing my vlogs. Feeling rejuvenated and ready to plow on to Austria - I want to get to Salzburg by Day 40!

Day 23: Montabaur 🇩🇪 to Niederselters 🇩🇪- 22miles/35km
A lot of today was walking along the side of motorways. Truthfully this is getting a little boring. When I get to Stuttgart I will then be on the edge of Bavaria and at that point I know the landscapes will get stunning so I am just going to plow on until then and at Stuttgart take some time to figure out a better system than Google Maps.
Truthfully I’ve never had to be a navigator. When I climb mountains I follow the established path and all the walks I’ve gone on this far in my life have been down country lanes/established walking routes.
It’s cool. I'm excited to learn a new skill. Until then I will stick with the efficiency of just walking along main roads to stack up the miles.
