MELBOURNE | Two Birds One Stone

There's so many shiny and new these days, that some days, classics are just what you need.

Recently visited Two Birds One Stone Cafe as Thanh - Melbourne Food Blogger plus one, and there was just something comforting about being there.

Familiarity, and delicious brunch options (I opted for a Porterhouse Steak Sanga and Thanh has a Shakshuka). We also enjoyed the Iced Matcha and a Mont Blanc, my new fave treat 😋

We're halfway through the year, and I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm so incredibly tired.

Maybe it's winter being here, maybe it's the job market and how incredibly tough it's been to find a job, or starting up a new business (or two), maybe it's perimenopause, and maybe it's the fact that when it rains, it bloody pours, and I also have a leak in the ceiling 😶‍🌫️😑😵‍💫🫥

All I know is, I'm incredibly tired. But luckily, I have such kind, generous, and beautiful friends that surround me. Constantly motivating, allowing me to vent, manifesting positivity with me.

So onwards and upwards as they say. I need to find some balance, because one can't keep pouring from an empty cup 💜

It has been a very fulfilling and cup filling month.

From birthday celebrations of karaoke with and the big 4-0 with .co, to book launches by 😍😍😍

The start of my first Carnegie SFF book club 📚 to launching .au 🥳🥂

So many wonderful IRL catch-ups with folks I rarely see ( ) and some that I've suddenly been able to spend a lot more time with ( ) 🤗

I'm excited to see what happens in June, and to many more catch-ups and celebrations 😘

MELBOURNE | From Here by Mike

I love a good boozy brunch, and when we were invited to the launch of the new Weekend Brunch at .melbourne at 1 Hotel Melbourne .melbourne, I knew I had to give it a go.

Everything we tried was delicious, but the stand out was the Fried Chilli Spanner Crab Omelette and the Provencal Lamb Pie 🥧 😋

Chef Josh Bosen certainly knows what he is doing. This isn't your average brunch menu, this is elevated brunch dining.

We also absolutely loved the Build Your Own Endless Bloody Mary, where you get to elevate it with a Gilda skewer, a dressed prawn, freshly shucked oyster, or a caviar bump. Each variation was so good, and toy were also encouraged to mix in the chilli spice or horseradish to taste.

This would be such a great way to catch up with friends, and you'd be guaranteed a good time!

MELBOURNE | Oakwood Premier Melbourne

It was so lovely to be doing a wine tasting at last night.

In celebration of Australian Wine Month, Oakwood Premier have put together curated wine tastings every Friday in May at their Oak Lounge. Last night we were privilege to taste some of excellent Rose, Chardonnay and Shiraz (my favourite was the Rose and I'm not even a Rose drinker).

With one more session to go, on the 29th of May, where Majella Wines (Coonawarra, SA) will feature.

We capped off the night with a delicious dinner of Rosemary Lamb Shanks, Pork Schnitzel in Vienna Style, and a selection of cheeses.

HONG KONG | Star Ferry

We loved walking everywhere when we were in Hong Kong, and discovering all the different train stations that the MRT took us to.

But there's a lot of fun taking the iconic Star Ferry to cross the Causeway between Central and TST.

It remains one of the cheapest forms of public transportation in Hong Kong, and is very popular with locals and tourists alike.

SHANGHAI | Ying Fu (Hongkou)

This was the first time we were introduced to Ningbo cuisine, known for it's fresh, salty, & savoury flavour profiles. With a large proportion of dishes featuring seafood due to its coastal location of the East China Sea.

At Yong Fu, the elegance and sophistication of their delivery was perfection. Every mouthful was a delight, every new texture and flavour, a discovery.

It was a privilege to have visited Yong Fu on a recent Shanghai media famil 🙏🏻
