When you finally try a burger you've bookmarked for ages and it totally meets (exceeds even) expectations, you know life is pretty good.

You do need to have a short work-out before you reach your reward. Located on the rooftop of Askal, INUMAN COCKTAIL BAR | MELBOURNE CBD is their Cocktail Bar featuring some delicious pinoy-style flavours. The bar snacks and food also come from Askal's kitchen.

The Chori Burger, serves a charcoal-grilled patty made from a blend of Angus beef & pork longganisa. Add some melted cheddar cheese, miso caramelised onions, atchara pickles & ‘espesyal’ burger sauce on a toasted brioche bun, your tastebuds will be in joy.

Served with a side of hot, crispy fries and more 'espesyal' sauce.

I had it with a Gin & Calamansi Soda, which was super refreshing and was a great pairing 🤗

GLEN WAVERLEY | Gambino

On my first week back in the workforce, some friends and I decided to celebrate with a delicious meal at Gambino.

They'll tell you it's because they wanted to eat there, but I insist, the celebration was all for me 🤪

To be fair, I always seem to be having milestone meals where Adrian Li is concerned. He cooked for my big 4-0, so it's only apt that he cooked for me to celebrate getting a job 🥹

For those celebrating Father's Day this year, I highly recommend you visit Gambino for a delicious Italian feed. The Bistecca Florentina is an excellent choice!

An off-menu Otoro Crudo

Adrian Li signature Caprese (a whole compressed tomato filled with strachiatella, seasoned with basil and yuzu kosho)

Sourdough Rye Foccacia served with confit garlic butter & miso honey, and Alto robust EVOO and aged balsamic vinegar

Fusili, spicy vodka arrabiatta, smoked buffalo mozzarella, basil oil

Brussels Sprouts (still the only chef that makes me eat this happily)

DOCKLANDS | Dokutoku

It was serendipitous that Sarah invited me to be her plus one when we visited DOKUTOKU どくとく a few weeks ago. Why? Because now, I work in the area, and can revisit this Japanese restaurant for lunch! 🤗🤭🥳

When we visited, we were mainly there to try their Sukiyaki, and Gyukatsu. It was my first time trying a Sukiyaki, and I quite enjoyed it. The broth is much sweeter than a regular dashi or bone broth that you find at Shabu Shabu or other types of hot pot.

I can't wait to visit to see how what lunchtime offerings they might have!

Life lately! After 10 months of funemployment, I managed to find a new job. This includes working in a new part of town, and discovering new things to eat.

On my first day of work, I popped into Umee Cafe for a good luck, Hojicha ☕️

I was today years old when I learnt that there was a foodcourt area in the Docklands district! I always assumed it was a food desert!

Underneath all that meat, was Hokkien Noodles. The Lemon Chickena in Sweet & Sour pork weren't too bad and completely comforting for me. I was very sleepy at my desk in the afternoon 😴

Australia's 2026 Nikka Perfect Serve Champion is Brendan Grey from Tigerfish!

It was so lovely to be with Australia's bar community last night at Moondrop Bar, as we celebrated the amazing talent of all the competitors, and subsequent winner.

They now go on to represent Australia in the global competition in November.

Brendan's winning cocktail, inspired by his customer, Rhonda, draws on a beautiful story of how a feisty lady in her 70s energises the whole room when she's in it (my future is sealed, guys!)

For those who want to have a taste of the Nikka Perfect Serve 2026 winning cocktail 🍸
RECIPE
50ml Nikka from the Barrel
10ml Honey syrup infused with lavender (from Rhonda's garden)
120ml Hay and blackberry soda
1 dash cardamon bitters

Hay and blackberry soda 🫗
5g Hay straw
10g blackberries
500ml water

Method:
Triple carbonate all ingredients three times at 35PSI and pour in a highball over a long ice spear
Garnish with lavender dry baked with honey
Rapid infuse in a siphon filter and allow to sit for 3 hours then infuse again.
Refrigerate for 24 hours before using
