MDI research collaborator, Dr. David King, to receive this year’s Margaret Morse Nice Medal. The Medal is the premiere ornithological award bestowed by the Wilson Ornithological Society (WOS) and honors a lifetime of contributions to ornithology.

Dr. David King is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Environmental Conservation at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and recently retired as a Research Wildlife Biologist with the US Forest Service Northern Research Station.

Dr. King will provide the opening Plenary lecture at the WOS annual meeting next week.

Mesoamerican Development Institute (MDI) presents at Bewley’s Tea & Coffee in Dublin, Ireland, on Innovation at Origin. As Co-Managers of Pico Pijol National Park, MDI studies coffee’s impact on forest habitat and watersheds and is working to implement farmer and community driven innovation to address the most pressing problems for coffee producers—destruction of watersheds and lack of employment for local youth.

Bewley’s, built on Quaker origins that guide Bewley’s philosophy, is promoting coffee from Cooperative COMISUYL. Bewley’s is a long-time supporter of the Yoro Biological Corridor Initiative and its goals of expanding forest-restoring Integrated Open Canopy™ and clean processing technology.
