This summer, our leaders are bringing science to life through hands-on experiments twice a week! 🧪
In Haiti, science lessons are often taught only through theory. At New Roots, we make learning interactive whenever possible, giving children opportunities to see, touch, test, and discover for themselves.
Our young scientists were surprised and excited as they watched our volcano demonstration erupt right before their eyes! 🌋
Just before the experiment, we introduced the children to new science words like volcano, lava, and magma. For many of them, these concepts were completely new. They were fascinated to learn that deep underground there is so much heat and pressure that rocks can actually melt!
Then came the best part—seeing a volcano "erupt" in front of them. Although they had just learned how volcanoes erupt, they weren't expecting to actually see a demonstration. Their faces lit up with amazement, curiosity, and excitement.
One of our leaders smiled and said, "Now the kids are hungry for more experiments and can't wait to discover what the next one will be!"
The excitement didn't stop there. As soon as the demonstration ended, the children eagerly shared what they had seen and learned with their friends. Before long, a crowd of curious kids came over asking, "Can we join the next science experiment too?" 😊
This is what hands-on learning can do: turn a new idea into an unforgettable experience—and awaken a desire to keep discovering more. 💚
