New Roots Haiti's main goal is ending generational poverty in our village if Chiron. Since 2016 we have created nearly 40 dignigied, sustainable jobs on our farm. Although we also raise pigs and cows, our focus is chickens following the pastured poultry model. On our farm we have a feed mill and butcher shop where we process our own meat. We deliver and sell to over 100 locations across Northern H
aiti, including schools, orphanages, guest houses, hotels, restaurants, and private residence. In order to stimulate the economy as much as possible, we work with a co-op of local farmers to help them grow as much corn as possible. using our tractor, we help them plow and disc their land, a task that had previously been done by hand. now everyone in our community can grow a crop with a guaranteed buyer. in addition to all this, we also have an internship program where 2-3 individuals at a time can spend 4 months going through hands on practical training to see how to farm using our methods. they spend time caring for the animals as well as working in the feed mill and butcher shop. New Roots also has a youth soccer program with 165 children ages 7-13. the children come twice a week for practice and receive a nutritious snack of medika mamba. Through our program they are learning life skills that will go with them far into the future. We have held classes on antibullying and have worked tirelessly to create an emotionally healthy place for them to grow and play. in 2021 we will be building a community center which will have a permanent home for our soccer program, a commercial playground, basketball court, and depot/bathroom. we eventually want to add a library and computer lab to this as well. we are so excited to have a space that allows us to invest in the lives of youth in our community. Our goal is to empower Moms and Dads with the tools and skills needed to help their children reach their full potential. We do this through employment, education, and nutritional assistance.
