Let's Meet Our Judge: Yuyu Kim

With dual diplomas in Oenology (Winemaking) and Beer Brewing Operations, Yuyu Kim brings a deep knowledge of both worlds to the judging table. Since 2020, Yuyu has been brewing on a 30 hL system, producing an impressive 1.4 million liters of beer annually.

As a Certified BJCP Judge and Certified CiceroneⓇ, Yuyu has honed sensory skills judging across Canada in prestigious competitions like the Canada Beer Cup, BC Beer Awards, and Alberta Beer Awards. Yuyu’s expertise extends beyond Canada, having also judged in the USA at events like the Great American Beer Festival and Oregon International Competition.

Our journey to introduce all the amazing judges for the King of Craft competition continues!

Say hello to Prof. Dr. Ingo Barkow—a university teacher and chair at the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons in Switzerland. Dr. Barkow leads the FHGR Campus Brewery, where cutting-edge brewing technology meets innovative digitization techniques (think groundbreaking sensors!).

Beyond academia, he’s a Doemens Beer Sommelier, a Member of the Institute of Masters of Beer, and a BJCP Registered Judge. From his humble beginnings as a homebrewer to currently studying to become an industry-level master brewer in Munich, Ingo brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the table.

With his sharp eye for quality and innovation, Prof. Dr. Barkow will undoubtedly bring invaluable expertise to the judging panel.
