The journey began in Kesennuma, a serene seaside city in the Tohoku region, celebrated for oysters of extraordinary quality.
During our visit, we met the devoted farmers and families whose lives are intertwined with the sea—people who treat each oyster as a small, precious masterpiece.
In that quiet coastal town, we discovered a local maker producing a remarkable milky oyster sauce. Its depth of umami and refined richness was unlike anything I had ever tasted. That single experience lingered with me, long after we left Kesennuma. Milky Oyster Butter is born from that memory.
