Just ahead of Asia's 2026, Shelley Tai of .hongkong was named the winner of the Altos Bartenders' Bartender Award 2026.

A recognition voted by bartenders themselves.

Reading her story got me thinking about observation, hospitality, and the things great bar people notice that the rest of us often miss.

The Most Underrated Hotel in Bali?

Over the years, I've been lucky enough to stay at some of the best hotels in the world. So when I showed up at this one with zero expectation.. I genuinely didn't see it coming.

Smart rooms.
A restaurant program that fully transforms every few months with the best names in Indonesian cuisine and bar.
A full wellness ecosystem built into space that most hotels waste.
An outdoor beach gym. And a proper cold plunge that a lot of newer properties still haven't bothered with.

Someone made the decision to reinvest in this place when they really didn't have to. And that kind of commitment is exactly what separates a good hotel from one that stays relevant for decades.

Bucket list ✅

Finally made it to Bengaluru and stayed at the legendary . A palace like hotel with stunning architecture and truly world class service.

Had one of the best Indian meals at Jamavar, their signature restaurant that showcases the depth and elegance of Indian cuisine.

And if you think hotel bars are usually boring and stiff, think again. Head over to .in where live jazz fills the room and the cocktails are nothing short of world class.
