🍞 SOFT AND FLUFFY MILK BREAD ROLLS RECIPE
📝 INGREDIENTS
• All-purpose flour – 4 cups (500g)
• Warm milk – 1 cup (240ml)
• Sugar – ¼ cup (50g)
• Butter – ¼ cup (57g)
• Egg – 1 large (about 50g without shell)
• Instant yeast – 2¼ teaspoons (7g)
• Salt – 1 teaspoon (5g)
• Powdered milk – ¼ cup (30g), optional
For the egg wash:
• 1 egg
• 1 tablespoon milk
For brushing after baking (optional):
• 1 tablespoon butter (14g)
👩🍳 METHOD
Prepare the dough
Pour the warm milk into a mixing bowl. Add the sugar and instant yeast, then stir. Make sure the milk is warm, not hot.
Add the egg, flour, powdered milk, and salt. Mix until a rough dough forms.
Add the softened butter and knead for about 10–15 minutes until the dough becomes smooth, soft, and elastic. Add a little flour only if absolutely necessary, as the dough should remain soft.
Allow the dough to rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it. Leave it in a warm place for about 1–1½ hours, or until it doubles in size.
Shape the rolls
Punch down the risen dough gently and divide it into 12–16 equal portions.
Shape each portion into a smooth ball and arrange them in a greased or parchment-lined baking pan, leaving a little space between them.
Allow a second rise
Cover the shaped rolls and leave them to rise for another 30–45 minutes, until puffy.
Apply the egg wash
Whisk the egg with one tablespoon of milk. Gently brush the mixture over the tops of the rolls for a shiny, golden finish.
Bake the rolls
Preheat your oven to 180°C.
Bake for approximately 18–25 minutes, or until the rolls are beautifully golden brown and cooked through. Baking time may vary depending on your oven and the size of the rolls.
Finish and serve
Brush the hot rolls with butter for a softer crust, if desired. Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
😍 TIPS FOR PERFECT MILK BREAD ROLLS
• Use lukewarm milk to avoid damaging the yeast.
• Knead the dough properly to achieve a soft, stretchy texture.
• Avoid adding too much extra flour, which can make the rolls hard.
• Allow the dough enough time to rise.
• Do not overbake, as this can dry out the bread.
• Store completely cooled rolls in an airtight container to maintain their softness.
Enjoy your homemade soft, fluffy milk bread rolls! 🍞❤️
