Hello my friends! First of all I hope y’all stay put and safe.

I came back from my educational/leisure trip to Bali on March 18th which means I’m left with three more days of self quarantine before I can actually hug and kiss my husband 😊.

As you can imagine I left with all the excitement to come back with new recipes and desserts to share with you and I came back to a different world. I know you have similar stories to share and think of you all.

I am so impressed by my fellow food businesses and all others that adapted their plans and modes of operations so swiftly and efficiently. I express my huge admiration!

During the self-quarantine time I thought deeply about the future of Queen of Vega and, given the circumstances, I see that it is not possible to continue offering you raw desserts in the foreseeable future.

However, if there is enough demand, I’d love to show you how to create them and have fun in doing so.
Please let me know in your comments or DM me.

Until then, I wish each and everyone patience and resilience to weather the storm. I know this adventure will help us see things we neglected so far and nourish our souls and relationships in a way that can only make us better for us and the future of the world.

Bali is the “Island of Gods”. But it should also be named the island of raw vegan cuisine because some of the seeds of this cuisine were sowed just here and justifiably so. It is the source of so many fresh ingredients and for that reason so inspiring to play with them.

It was an absolute joy to share my knowledge and create these beautiful raw vegan and gluten free desserts for .leaves.surf.bali - my home for the last 5 days!
- Cacao Mango Mouse and
- Bali Banana Cream topped with Shaved Chocolate and Dried Coconut.
So light and refreshing, the kind of sweet indulgence that pairs nicely with tropical climate and light surfer meals.
And remember surfing is not for the faint hearted 😆.

I might be almost 10,000 miles away but my mind is on the next steps of QoV. Nine months after the initial launch I thought about all your feedback and desires and decided to share my knowledge so you can take your health in your hands. I plan to bring you closer to healthier eating habits and teach you how to make vegan and gluten free cheese, bread, burgers, sushi, tacos and of course desserts! Stay tuned my friends! I know this is a challenging journey: to be able to transition to a new diet or keep up with it effortlessly. But this is also my personal journey and I am excited to make it fun for everyone. Sending love from the land of the four kingdoms - one of the last paradises on earth. I am hoping to help keep it that way by learning and passing over a more sustainable way to live and eat.

Sugar, that sweet devil.

I’ve been struggling for years to cut off sugar and eliminate it from my diet along with other foods that have found out they don’t agree with my health. I only succeed for a few days and then back to it (in the form of chocolate, cookie, or cake).

And while we have started to see a plethora of new snacks and desserts options that are vegan and even gluten free a big culprit is sugar -being used in high quantities.

Most of us have read how bad sugar is for our overall health. Still, I think, is not highlighted enough, so we do need to make more conscious decisions on what we eat, how much and how often.

It’s quite an irony to talk about sugar when my business is actually about desserts. While I don’t use refined white sugar I do use alternative sweeteners like agave nectar and maple syrup - a form of sugar that should better consumed occasionally.

I actually started my business to help people transition to healthier desserts with less sweetness. I aspire to help us all balancing our taste buds and train them to be sensitive to less sweet desserts until hopefully we only need fruits. Sugar is highly addictive.

I just finished watching the Sweet Deal, one of the Rotten docu series on Netflix and was blown away by what entails to bring all that sugar to our houses. I can’t recommend enough to watch it too.

How do you deal with sugar? Do you find it challenging to moderate its consumption in your every day life?

I’d like to continue talking about sugar because it affects us all in so many levels: health, environment, human rights and workforce.
