Our kitchen team dreamed of a herb bed right beside the kitchen, filled with fresh herbs and edible flowers to decorate drinks and plates.
At the same time, we needed a simple and quick way to manage organic waste from our guests.

We love finding interactive and fun ways to make simple things both educational and inspiring. The worm tower turned out to be the perfect solution, and with the help of our pottery-maker friends .lombokpottery, this idea came to life right outside our kitchen.

Making the most of ceremony season! 🥥
During this time of year, coconuts are everywhere. They are used to make santan (coconut milk), an essential ingredient in many traditional recipes.

That also means there’s a lot of coconut husk left behind. Usually burned or dumped, this “waste” has so much more to give.

So we took our little truck, drove around the village, and gathered as many as we could. A win-win: our neighbors don’t have to think about disposal, and we get to reuse it to nourish and elevate our garden beds.

Nothing wasted, everything shared. 🌱

We’ve opened up a new space just for the little ones 🍃 the kids’ garden 🍃 created with love and intention, in collaboration with our wonderful friends .

Watching the children dig, plant, and explore the soil with so much curiosity reminds us exactly why this matters: even the smallest act of care can create a ripple.

They learn patience, responsibility, and the quiet magic of watching something grow over time.

In a world that’s always rushing, gardening brings them back to the present, to focus, to breathe, to just be.

And perhaps most importantly, it helps them believe in themselves. Watching something they planted grow gives so much confidence, joy, and a sense of quiet achievement. 🌱

When I first started gardening, I was amazed by the power of a single seed. You plant just ONE tomato seed, and it will give you THOUSANDS more. This made me wonder: if food can multiply so easily, why are people still starving?
Then I came across a book that said: “every person who dies from hunger is not suffering from lack of food, they are being deliberately let to die.”

That changed everything for me. This revelation completely shifted my perspective on the world.

And then came the documentary SEED: The Untold Story, which opened my eyes to something deeper.

This isn’t just about food.
It’s about resisting extinction.
It’s about reclaiming abundance.
And it starts with us. 🌱

Our Story

In 2013, Anne-Sophie & Tikno decided to build a place where they could, every summer, be reunited with their 7 children who are studying in Europe. They started building bungalows for each child and at the same time, challenged theirselves to grow organic vegetables in an extremely rocky and dry soil.

Today, we are happy to host visitors from all around the world in a place where they could feel at home, far from their own. We decided to call this place Saifana, which are the first letters of each child : Safira, Atias, Ili, F***y, Adrian, Namori and Amina.
