Plants emit a faint, often invisible red glow known as chlorophyll fluorescence, which occurs when absorbed light energy is not used for photosynthesis and is instead re-emitted, indicating the plant’s health, stress levels, and photosynthetic efficiency. This red emission (640–800 nm) is used by researchers and drones to assess stress and productivity.
