Windy the Wolf Character Bento is a food-art collaboration between Kartenz Animation Studios and Squad Jr, featuring the Arctic wolf character Windy the Wolf as a fully edible character bento.
Overview
The collaboration began as an idea to bring Windy the Wolf from the animated world into real life through food. Rather than creating another conventional piece of merchandise, Kartenz Animation Studios and Squad Jr decided to reinterpret Windy as a character bento, using real food ingredients to recreate his recognizable appearance.
The project combines character design, food styling, packaging design, and commercial food photography.
The Concept
Windy is represented by a carefully shaped portion of rice forming his head. Seaweed is used for his eyes, nose, and other facial details, recreating his familiar sleepy and slightly bored expression.
Around Windy's head is a selection of colorful side dishes. Chicken popcorn provides the main savory accompaniment, while lettuce creates a fresh base. Diced carrot, corn, and string beans add color and texture to the composition.
The bento is presented inside a compact food container, transforming Windy into a lunch that looks almost like a miniature version of his animated world.
Collaboration
The project brought together the creative strengths of both companies.
Kartenz Animation Studios provided the character concept and visual direction, ensuring that the bento remained faithful to Windy's original design and personality.
Squad Jr contributed its food and product presentation expertise, helping transform the character into a realistic and appetizing food composition suitable for promotional photography.
The collaboration was designed to demonstrate how an animated character can be extended beyond film and animation into food products, lifestyle branding, and collectible-style experiences.
Production
The team experimented with different proportions and ingredient arrangements to make Windy's face recognizable while keeping the food visually natural.
One of the main challenges was translating Windy's cartoon features into edible materials. His facial proportions had to be simplified without losing his identity. The rice needed to have a natural food texture while still maintaining the shape of an Arctic wolf.
The chicken popcorn was also given a prominent position in the composition, creating a stronger visual connection between the character and the meal.
Final Product
The finished Windy the Wolf Character Bento presents Windy as a playful food character while maintaining his signature personality. His expression remains calm and slightly uninterested—as if he would rather be sitting beside his igloo fishing than posing for a food advertisement.
The project became an example of the Kartenz Animation Studios × Squad Jr approach to character merchandising, combining animation with everyday food culture.
