For over thirty years, Rathbaun Farm has been welcoming visitors eager to experience farm life in an idyllic rural setting. North of Slieve Aughty and a stone’s throw from the Wild Atlantic Way, the parishes of Ardrahan and Kilchreest have been engaged in sheep farming for hundreds of years. Proprietress Frances Thomson takes great pride in greeting her guests with hot scones, tea, and coffee, before you venture out into the farmyard. Guests also have the option of learning Frances’ secrets in a traditional Irish baking class, or enjoying a farmhouse dinner accompanied by local musicians. Some visitors prefer to relax and trade stories with staff by the open turf fire in our two hundred year old, thatched stonewall cottage. We are happy to recommend places of interest in the locality, including Yeats’ Tower in Ballylee, the Caher Cre Church and Mausoleum, and the turloughs in Horseshoe Wood.
