Pigs roll in the mud (or "wallow") in hot weather primarily because they cannot sweat. Lacking functional sweat glands, they rely on mud to regulate their body temperature, protect their skin, and ward off pests. [
Pigs have sensitive skin and very little hair, so they are highly susceptible to sunburn. The thick layer of mud acts as a physical barrier against harmful UV rays.
All our pigs are free range , they choose where they want to sleep , shelter and shade.
We practice high welfare practices so to keep them happy and healthy.

What you're hearing is the purrchicken "purring"—sometimes called trilling or a pleasure hum. It's a soft, low-frequency rhythmic vibration. When settling in for the night, this gentle sound is their way of signaling that they feel safe, warm, and deeply content. It helps the whole flock stay calm and quiet before they sleep.
At our farm they spend much of the day outside foraging and freely roaming on chemical free pasture, once dusk comes they make their way to bed at their pace and fly up on the roosts to sleep.
Spacious, warm yet ventilated

This is what a natural farm looks like.
Choose pasture raised , ethically farmed eggs.

The odour of flowering fruit, the vibrancy of new foliage and the sweet sound of bird song at the fallen forest is a delight.
Nature nurtured or left alone will thrive.
After the thunder storm all will flourish even more as it provides a deluge of nitrogen acting as a natural fertilizer.

They're flying out all day. Restocked now and will be again following tomorrow's lay.
Fresh and nutrient dense.

Happy, healthy, free range pigs.
Caring for animal psychology is key for their overall health, and it is entirely neglected in large piggeries.
They're not farms they're very profitable, greedy factories.

Next time you eat pork and bacon from we'll known 'producers' available in supermarkets and even some butchers (even if it claims to be nitrate free ).
And..........
Next time you tuck into a cafe/ restaurant/ food truck breakfast/ hotdog ask them a simple question.... where do you source your pork, bacon and eggs???
If their answer is 'locally sourced' I'd push for more specific origins.
If they mention a farm a simple Google search might tell you if it is a real farm or just some factory/ packaging dispatch centre with a pretend farm name.
Know where your food comes from, you are what you eat!

What to look out for...
✅Free range pork and bacon
✅High welfare farming
✅ Pasture raised hens
✅Pasture raised pigs

We were considering replacing our little bird house after many harsh winters and storms but we noticed a fresh nest, now hatchlings. So we'll leave it well alone and make some repairs when they've flown the nest.
This is in our garden which borders our farm , nestled under native Irish trees .
Since planting them our once soggy garden has dried up, wildlife has returned and the bird species is abundant and diverse.
We've covered our lawns with more native trees and wild flower, saving time and money on maintenance while creating a little ecosystem.
