Cahir Farmers Market and Tipperary Producers Sweep Honours at Blas na hÉireann Awards
Tipperary’s vibrant food scene enjoyed standout success at this weekend’s Blas na hÉireann (Irish Food Awards) in Di**le, with several local producers bringing home national silverware.
Cahir Farmers Market was well represented on the podium, with news from Di**le shared with us by Con Traas of The Apple Farm.
Market regulars Myriam and Barry secured a Silver award for their Pecan Butter, a product that earned high praise from celebrity chef Neven Maguire during the event.
The Apple Farm itself celebrated a triple win, taking home Silver for its apple crisps alongside Bronze awards for Con’s C***r and "The 80" apple brandy, crafted in collaboration with The Tipperary Distillery.
It was a banner weekend overall for members of the Tipperary Food Producers Network. Among the county’s other celebrated winners were Clonmel’s Blanco Niño, Cashel Blue cheese (also a Cahir market staple), James Whelan Butchers, Compsey Creamery in Mullinahone, O'Donnells Crisps, Rívesci, and Boulabawn Farm for its artisan sorbet.
