A larger sale with 468 head on offer in ring 1, 360 calves in ring 2 and also a Special Suckler Sale. Cull cows met a very solid trade throughout. 900kg CH cow sold for €3,500, while a 626kg FR cow reached €1,890. Store FR cows traded from €2.30/kg to €2.80/kg. Store heifers sold to a top price of €5.00/kg for quality continental heifers. While lighter AA heifers sold up to €3.70/kg. Beef heifers peaked at €3,520 for an 860kg LMX heifer. Store bullocks were scarce, with strong demand seeing continental stores from 350kg to 450kg sell to €5.40/kg. Heavier bullocks sold to €2,680 for a 700kg stores. While a quality bunch of 680kg FR bullocks made €2,300. Bull weanlings met a much sharper trade, helped by the presence of active shippers both ringside and online. Specialist finishers were particularly strong for heavier continental bulls. Lighter shipping bulls sold from €4.70/kg to €5.20/kg, while bulls over 500kg traded between €4.20/kg and €4.60/kg.
The suckler section saw in-calf heifers sell from €3,600 to €4,700, all carrying to a Limousin bull and due to calve in August and September. Cows with calves at foot sold between €2,600 and €4,000.
Calves met a very lively trade. Continental bull calves sold to €850, while heavier Hereford and Angus bull calves traded from €550 to €680. The majority of lighter calves sold between €380 and €540. Continental heifer calves sold from €520 to €760, with Hereford and Angus heifers making €350 to €600. Friesian-reared calves sold between €420 and €600.
Overall, demand remained very strong across all sections, with quality stock and export-type cattle attracting particularly keen competition.
