Building the Nest

Building the Nest Hi! We are Nick & Lisa - join us as we turn a derelict cottage in Ireland into our small holding!

The harvest may be small this year as the plants are new, but the cake is amazing!

First bit of de-custard-ification of our awfully custard colour cottage! It’s actually only to shore up the corner but at least there’s a bit less horrific yellow to look at!

Every so often we like to do a flower-ventory - a log of everything in flower on that day. From roses to hardy geraniums and runner beans and strawberries - all in flower and all beautiful ❤️

Some are just getting into their stride while some are reaching the end of their flowers - but all of them as just so special ❤️

New vlog 4pm! We hit crashing point this week so…

This week, we took a little break from the cottage renovation — and honestly, we really needed it.

After a pretty intense few months working towards our dream homestead life in rural Ireland, it felt good to slow the pace slightly and focus on the parts of simple living we love most. The greenhouse is thriving, the vegetable garden is expanding fast, and the front cottage garden is really starting to come together now.

We also treated ourselves to a day out at a garden centre, welcomed the kittens outside for the very first time, and answered a couple of your most asked questions in a mini Q&A.

A gentler week this week… but a very good one as we continue building our self sufficient living dream and restoring our old Irish cottage.
