Golden Irish

Golden Irish On our farms the crack is mighty and our hens run free. Healthier hens mean more nutritious and better tasting eggs!

Just like us humans, hens need lots of fresh air and plenty of room to roam around and stretch their legs, in wide-open spaces.

Ingredients:

4 Golden Irish large eggs
300g cooked cold rice
1 carrot, diced small
100g frozen peas
3 spring onions, sliced
2 garlic cloves, chopped
2 tbsp soy sauce (reduced-salt)
1 tbsp vegetable oil
Black pepper

1. Beat the eggs with a good crack of pepper. Have everything chopped before you start - this moves fast.
2. Half the oil in a hot pan. Scramble the eggs until just set, still glossy. Tip onto a plate.
3. Rest of the oil in. Carrot first for 2 minutes, then garlic and peas for another 2.
4. Rice in. Press it flat, leave it 30 seconds between stirs - that's how you get the crispy bits. 3-4 minutes.
5. Eggs back in, soy sauce, spring onions. Toss and eat.

Did you know this week is Zero Waste Week? - And there's very little in this box that needs to hit the bin.

Compost and seeds on the windowsill. Paint and scissors for the kids. Shells into the compost heap. And when the box has done its second job, it composts too.

Behind it all: our packing facility runs on renewable energy and our farm waste goes back onto the land instead of chemical fertiliser.

It wasn't just the children you had to remember on the school runs back then 😂

Did you know walking 10,000 steps a day, or 70,000 a week, burns more calories than 2 gym sessions!

Free-range hens walk 30,000 steps a day as they are on their feet all day, roaming the farm. Active hens, better eggs.

10,000 steps = 400 cals burned x 7 = 2,8000
Gym session = 500 cals burned x 2 = 1,000
