Twelve hours after he got out of the leaba, here is Aonghus delivering his leaves to Coyles.
We did have some of his winter leaves a few weeks ago, but they ran out, and we've been waiting patiently throughout 'the hungry gap' since.
It's a real sign of summer, on the eve of the first of May, to see his green van pull up outside.

An hour away, Aonghus is our nearest commercial grower. Delivering to Clifden is a chunk out of his very busy schedule, so I am grateful to have his produce in Coyles.
Without him, unless you are growing your own, we would not have tasty healthy salad leaves in this town. When you can, support local growers like him 👏

Big news!!! The Dough Bros have landed in Clifden!!!

Well, kind of. Their bases have 😊, and they're really good. I know this because I immediately took some home and tried them out.

I popped in to SuperValu for Mutti's pizza sauce (which comes, conveniently in a small tin), Guastalla Pepperoni Salami, Cabots of Westport basil pesto and some Italian mozzarella.

If I hadn't been in such a rush to get home, I'd have popped down to Connemara Hamper for Gubeen Irish charcuterie and Toonsbridge Irish mozzarella 😋.

But whatever it is you like on your pizzas
Bang your oven right up, throw it all together and cook for only 6 or 7 minutes.

That's it. Pizza night. Sorted.👏👏👏

We'd no complaints here. Apart from the dog. Who got none. Poor Omey ☹️

Find pizza bases in our fancy new fridges in Coyles.

Delicious, good quality, local food 😘

Cork. My happy place. I don't know what it is about Cork that there seems to be such a strong, yet very natural connection with its food. Maybe its the lush green pastures that we don't have up this way. Dairy, its big down there. Think of all the cheeses that are made in Munster. And the relatively new buffalo dairy industry too, so exciting
They have Castletownbere of course which gives them access to the best seafood, lucky feckers. (To think how hard it is to get fresh seafood here). Great bakers, and a rich history in meat processing too.
All this and more is alive and kicking inside the English Market of course. But you can see it in the menus around town too. An ease with fresh local ingredients. Not for show, but just because, why wouldn't you?!

Most of all though it's the people. The people I met through running the food trails were most definitely the inspiration behind Coyles. The independent businesses who believe so passionately in what they are about. It takes hard graft, but the purpose behind it all, people and food, that's what drives them, and me.

Let's get behind our local growers, fishers, bakers and makers. These people connect us to our land and nourish our souls. Support them.

Feeling refreshed and inspired after a couple of great days in The Food Capital ❤️

Haven't posted in a while. November doesn't lend itself to thought-sharing, and December is just plain mental 😵 what with the big build-up. But this is definitely worth a mention...

There are loqds of awards, plaques, acknowledgements, lists, nominations and guidebooks around these days. But John and Sally McKenna are the best and the original. The most highly rated raters in Ireland. Where you see an up-to-date McKenna Guide plaque, you find quality.

I can't quite believe we have created such a place, Laura, Jack, Clem and I. As well as our brilliant food producers, and of course you guys, our customers.
Plenty more to thank too. A whole community. But for now, we want to celebrate and enjoy this achievement 🙌

Happy New Year to y'all
Thank you & see you soon

Although we buy in (the more expensive) compostable packaging, I've always wanted to cut down on single use paper cups. Being a fussy cow however when it comes to design it has taken nearly two years to choose the perfect reusable one 😆

Anyhow, here it is. The beautiful, strong & well-designed reusable , branded with the Coyles logo. I love them!

We have them in three sizes; 12oz / Medium, 8oz / Small & 6oz / Extra Small. We can advise you in the shop as to which one suits which drinks.

And every time you use it in Coyles, we'll give you 20c off your coffee.

Is there an easier, tastier, faster or more delicious desert than pavlova?

No. There isn't.

Especially when you can now pre-order the home-made base from Coyles 🙌👏

There isn't much Irish fruit in season right now so I used some frozen raspberries, whipped cream & toasted flaked almonds. So easy. So good.

Available soon. Stay tuned to our stories for details. Or drop us a direct message here on Instagram if you can't wait 😋
