Our co founder and master distiller, Robert Barrett, has been shortlisted for Distiller of the Year at the Spirits Business Awards 2026.

As someone who has been on this journey with Robert from the very beginning, this recognition means so much to me personally. We are incredibly proud to see him shortlisted alongside 3 other outstanding distillers who are doing amazing things in the world of spirits.

Robert has spent years learning and perfecting his craft. He holds a Master’s degree in Brewing and Distilling from Heriot Watt University and has worked across Ireland, Canada and the Caribbean before we took the leap and started Rebel City Distillery in 2020.

Since then, I have had the privilege of seeing his passion, creativity and dedication up close. So much of what we have created at Rebel City comes from his knowledge and his obsession with getting every detail right.

Our Maharani Gin has won 6 international awards, including Blas na hÉireann twice.

Our Maharani Pimento Vodka has received 2 international awards, including Best Irish Botanical Vodka and Gold at the Vodka Masters.

Our Rebel City Absinthe has also picked up 2 international Gold awards.

Behind every one of these awards is a huge amount of hard work, experimentation and passion. It is a recognition of Robert’s journey and everything he has put into building Rebel City Distillery

Growing up in Kerala, Onam was always about family, food and that beautiful feeling of being surrounded by people you love. Living away from home, you miss those little things more than you realise. This year, we celebrated with friends who are very close to our hearts. And maybe that’s what happens when you build a life away from where you started , you carry your home with you, while slowly creating a new one along the way.

Maharani Pomelo Vodka have just won a Gold at The Spirits Business Global Vodka Masters. 🥇This is our second title of honour for our Vodka and we couldn’t be more happier.

Earlier this year, Maharani was named Best Botanical Vodka in Ireland at the World Drinks Awards and shortlisted among the Top 5 Botanical Vodkas in the World.

The judges loved what makes Maharani special:

🍊 Good flavour, not too sweet
🍊 A lovely citric finish
🍊 Smooth and nicely balanced

There’s a lot of work, passion and plenty of tasting behind every bottle, so we’ll definitely be raising a glass to this one.
